He cant do EVERYTHING...but the breadth of his talent and skill set amazes me and I love it. That shitty yahoo live stream is a perfect example. He took two rookies and a bassist from another country and rehearsed them till he had a good act going...for hours on end the girls said they rehearsed...while that's happening...he got a jazz group working away, hes putting a couple trax together with Rita...potential, bougie, etc get sporadically released, he working on his own album as well...dude like literally lives music. And the things he sacrifices to do it. Flipside...what he cant do and what he is terrible is...delegating tasks that don't involve music. He rarely picks the right person....if it happens to work it's by a crazy accident.

I wonder if having too many stews on the stove is a symptom of 'seeing what sticks syndrome'....

you know when you're younger and on the come up, you always do 8 more things than you need, 'just in case'....

has Prince become so used to the grind as the norm... that it's become habitual - and wastes time on things that don't pan out?

I can relate to what P does, because I used to have other things to work on in my business downtimes that would keep me active and busy and keep the 'business is slow omg i'm failing' feelings at bey....

do you think he's afraid to NOT have 8 things going at once?

I don't think he's afraid not to have 8 things going at once...I think he's learned not to let his ADHD render him non-functional. He was lucky, he learned to self-medicate with music and not meth.

If we were wondering that, we'd have mentioned it. Since we didn't but you did, looks like you're the one wondering about that, not us.

Yeah, anyone who has lived a rock star life for 35 years and kept both his mental and physical health deserves our respect. He may not be the best businessman ever, but how many musicians were left broke by their managers? Or ended up in the gutter because of drugs and alcohol? Prince never allowed that to happen to him. Maybe being a control freak isn't so bad after all... I won't even mention the music because it goes without saying that I love that.

You pretty much summed it up for me. The man is definitely in control, he's gone the distance and still going strong. highfive

I Love Prince for all the music he makes and shares with us. If it weren't for his many beautiful songs, I may not have ever heard of him. Prince has the power to turn a gloomy day into a brilliant extravaganza cool Prince can turn a frowning face into a happy, smiling one instantly. His music brings people of all types together under one roof called LOVE 4 One Another biggrin Princes' ability to bring our nations under one groove is phenominal, if his words and songs were heard around the world, there'd be no war.

Prince displays the diversity and resilience of a Super Hero and his messages are kind and soft spoken and sung. IMO, Prince is the Greatest Artist Alive who has touched so many hearts with his funky grooves. His adventures and new ideas speak to our hearts and souls, he's always experimenting and raising the bar, giving us new sounds and jams. There are few musical artists today who haven't used Prince as an example in someway because, Prince is the very Best Musical Entertainer around the world today!!!

Thank You Prince for all the Amazing Sounds, which make up the soundtrack to my life. I Love You and am Wishing You the Best, Always. I'm hoping that for all the Love U've given, much Love is returned to U this Christmas and in the New Year 2015 heart yes Thank You Prince!!! guitar

First and foremost, a very good thread! Second too many reasons why I love this man's contribution to music. I could write a book. But to sum it up he is the whole package. He's a dancer, a song-writer, a superb musician, the king of swag, the king of mystery, a living mystery that knows he's the baddest funkster who has had the biggest influence on popular music. I love the fact that his music crossing all boundaries. Every look around at a Prince concert? The audience is multicolored and his music defies catagorization. He's a leader and a maverick. He doesn't care what the consensus thinks and does his own thing. But contrary to popular opinion by some people he's very smart and he has a great sense of humor. He mixes fashion and style and music into the ultimate celebrity. But privately he is very generous. With charities and helping others. Either by donating cash or writing for other artists or givnig unknow musicians a chance to play with him. He is also extremely focused. He is never into trouble for drugs or things that are illegal. As soon as he made his first millions, what did he do? He built paisley park! That's dedication to one's craft. But the number one reason I love prince is easy. It's for the music! Nothing else matters. I think we owe to him to respect his private life and let his music speak for itself. The music is timeless and boundless to me. It's a cut above all the other stuff I hear on the radio or from my friends. He once said he has to make music or he would just die. So he has keep making music. I am so glad he feels that way! This man is the shit!

Long ago I swore that if a musician could incorporate the concept of a "accujack" into their music, I would dedicate my life to loving their music. lol

It's really a study in allowing water to find it's own level (so to speak)...when someone has all the things they need to just totally exist in who they are COMPLETELY. No second guessing, no insecurity, nothing in the way. Choosing self preservation instead of self-destruction utilizing a medium that brings everyone else along for the ride....
