Another Great Album with No Tour

AOA is an afterthought now. Too bad there was no US tour to support it. The last time he did a US tour in support of a tour was Musicology and the results were awesome. That dude needs a manager.

AOA was an afterthought from the very start while PE was prepared and nicely packaged well ahead of time.

AOA packaging was clearly thrown together at the last minute. No booklet, almost no credits. I'm sure he has plenty of other "albums" ready to go, he just has to feel like releasing them.

Seems like he's more interested in creating music than releasing it.

His back catalogue will continue to keep him extremely wealthy, so maybe he's just living in the moment now, and doesn't need to let all his "children" out into the cold cruel world, being satisfied just creating in the studio.

However, if he thnks he's managing these projects well from a business standpoint, he's delusional.

Let's wait & see.

Before their twitter etc got pulled, 3rdeyegirl had already hinted that a long tour was coming next year. The whole Toronto debacle also suggests a tour us being prepared for and those last twitter pics of Prince looked suspiciously like tour programme extracts, to me...

But what's the point of releasing albums, doing something close 2 nothing in the way of promotion and then wait until the next year, with the albums already dropped from the charts, to tour? Or are 3EG going to tour to backup the Purple Rain 31 Year Anniversary Remaster?

Most artist of his longevity don't tour on a huge scale that often unless they think they need/want the money.

We're just going to have to live with the fact Prince doesn't want to be on the road for months with a huge crew and set too often.

I could care less about packaging, or liner notes, or a booklet. What matters to me is the music, and AOA delivers in a way not heard since Lovesexy. It's a stunning piece of work. The production is so thoughtful...dense without sounding cluttered. Breakdown, Clouds, Gold Standard, AND that gorgeous suite at the end...the only bummer is that Funk & Roll really distracts, and doesn't belong.

PE is so weak, it hurts. The songwriting is lacking and Hannah's vocals are meh. The fact that the best song is a cover says a lot about that album.

Yes, he's really killed any momentum by not touring. With AOA as good as it is, AND with Purple Rain's 30th anniversary, he missed a golden opportunity for a huge, well received tour. I'm sure he has his reasons, but I'm not thrilled.

PE had a tour before the album. IMO that was the PE tour. I certainly don't need more of that.

And also I don't think AOA will sound great live.

If P decides to skip tour for AOA/PE and go make more new music, I'm all for it.

Although I agree that 2015 tour is coming, yes.

What's the point of releasing the albums? Oh, I don't know, so we can hear the albums on their own merit? To me, the album releases culminated the end of the first 3EG period, plus the songs on Art Official Age with Andy Allo come probably from the Superconductor sessions, so those are great extras to have. But Prince got what he wanted with the individual song releases, and I think a lot of the fans who bought them did as well.
