I love U In Me - Prince never sings like this anymore

There Is Lonely - ditto

Solo - so unique

"I Love U in Me" is pretty much overdubs on overdubs overcompressed, nothing special by Prince's standards.
The lead vocal is slowed down (the opposite of Camille if you wish), so I don't think it can be taken into account.

In fact we would have to separate studio from live, and "natural performance" versus "post-treatment".

Camille isn't "sped up" vocals though, it's just the pitch thats changed. So are you saying the pitch is lowered on I Love U In Me, or the vocals are slowed down? It's barely noticeable to me if they are

I really, really don't think the I Love U In Me has been slowed or pitch shifted. I don't know where Bonatoc got that from.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

Well, we're gonna argue here. smile

Camille lead vocal tracks were recorded slowing down the tape (the instrumental playback), and then putting the tape back to normal speed again.

Hence the instruments are at normal (orginally recorded) speed, and so the vocal track is sped up as a result.

You have to listen carefully to "If I Was Your Girlfriend". The consonants and the vibratos "explode" or "vibrate" too fast.

In "I Love U In Me", you can hear that the consonants are not natural.

But we're talking pitch modification by a semi-tone, but come on, it's obvious by the timbre.

I dare you to give me a track where Prince sounds exactly as on "I Love U In Me".

It's a very common technique :

- Madonna : Like A Virgin

- Michael Jackson : Baby Be Mine

Who's arguing? I was asking a genuine question. The vocals on I love U In Me may very well be altered slightly, i just dont hear it. I could be wrong as well but I dont think If I was Your Girlfriend was recorded the same way as the other camille tracks, someting about Susan Rogers fucking up the vocal recording, hence the distortion you speak of.

^ Distorsion is one thing, I know the Susan Rogers story.

All Camille vocals are the result of slowing down, recording, and going back to the original speed.

.....like de ja vu......

Camille is not a sped up vocal. Camille is a character. Erotic City, Love or Money, Come On, Pfunk etc are not Camille. Camille can be high....Housequake....or low....Scarlet Pussy.

To be honest I love listening to him LIVE and not in the studio. I love him singing during the piano medly from Dortmund Germany Lovesexy 88. His natural voice is silky smooth and ranges to rough as in blues.
