Alright, I will explain this to you. "FKA" stands for "Formerly Known As" So, she was FOREMERLY known as Twigs. Which means she isn't Twigs any more. Therefore, until she gives us either her new name, or perhaps a symbol, we have nothing to call her by.

Clearly Prince understands this, as he has more experience with the phrase "formerly known as" than anyone in the world. Seeing that this artist currently has no name, he did the only logical thing and deleted all references to what is actually a non-existent name.

.

He always posts and deletes stuff on his twitter. He does it to pretty much all non-3EG related stuff.

I saw that she was doing a show in Minneapolis, has that happened yet? She's actually known as FKA Twigs for those unaware, she's a British RnB singer (most people label her RnB anyway, I don't think it describes her music particularly well).

I however helpfully provided her full stage name and wikipedia page so that tiresome outcome might be avoided. Even googling for twigs turns up her wikipedia page, so you don't have much excuse Americans! razz

When I googled, I got a wikipedia page, but this was what it told me:

A twig is a small thin terminal branch of a woody plant. The buds on the twig are an important diagnostic characteristic, as are the abscission scars where the leaves have fallen away. The color, texture, and patterning of the twig bark are also important, in addition to the thickness and nature of any pith of the twig.

There are two types of twig, vegetative twigs and fruiting spurs. Fruiting spurs are specialized twigs that generally branch off the sides of branches and leading twigs, and are stubby and slow-growing, with many annular ring markings from seasons past. The age and rate of growth of a twig can be determined by counting the winter terminal bud scale scars, or annular ring marking, down the length of the twig.

Hmmm...so plants are making music now? Seems like something Prince would be into.

You sure did! And as her wiki page confirms, "FKA" stands for "Formerly Known As". So it's easy to see the American confusion. The Americans are asking about someone CURRENTLY known as "Twigs" but as she clearly points out, she was FORMERLY known as "Twigs".

That's why we don't know who she is. biggrin

Tahliah Debrett Barnett[1] (born 16 January 1988), better known by her stage name FKA twigs, is an English singer-songwriter, producer and dancer originally from Gloucestershire[2] and currently based in London.[3] "FKA" stands for "Formerly Known As".[4][5] Her debut album, LP1, was released in August 2014 to critical acclaim.[6]

She did a show at Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis on Friday night. Prince invited her to Paisley Park on Saturday to do another show. I had never heard her music. She performed in the L4OA/NPGMC room. She was quite mesmerizing. Later in the night she joined Prince on stage to dance to Kiss, Hot Thing, and SOTT. He seemed enamored by her.

crazy that no one on here knows who FKA twigs is-- she is one of the most consistently critically acclaimed new musicians/artists/producers out and her debut album has received some of the highest marks of any record this year. really interesting voice and style, and i can see why prince was interested in her music and invited her to paisley. nothing 'happened' with her that he deleted any reference, in fact 3rdeyegirl just tweeted and Facebooked a 'thank you' to twigs and her record label attached to a positive review of the performance.

.

i really hope twigs ends up working with p. it could be REALLY interesting

You're welcome! I'm wishing I would have went to the Fine Line show as well, but it was already sold out.

She's so out there, I'd LOVE for them to collaborate, and I think it's a good thing that he digs her because that means the creative unconventional side to Prince is still there and healthy.

I'd also like her to do creative vision and direction for a new Prince video. Her aesthetic is extremely unique.

Change it one more time..
