Something Strange...

Something strange is going on... All of Prince's music is starting to show up on YouTube, and no I'm not talking about the usual channels, but official channels with album artwork and info posted...

Is this a sign of the WB/Remasters deal...

eek

You've answered your own question: This is simply another streaming service, just like Spotify. YouTube has worked out agreements with most labels, and they'll pay a royalty for every play. It has nothing to do with unauthorized uploads, and you can expect that Prince will continue to have those removed.

He does seem to be embracing the Power of Social media alot more which for someone like Prince not making radio play etc... is very much needed in this day in age.

Plus now he owns the rights to the music its an additional revenue stream with videos on youtube showing Ads before the video plays and things so wouldnt be too surprised if more and more pop up. (Even though his viewing numbers are not massive)

Strive

There's a decent amount of Prince on Amazon Prime Music. I don't think he has a problem with these type of services as long as he's getting paid.

.

YT ads only bring in money if there's a specific deal and if there are lots of views.

Do you really think he would have his music on if he was not getting paid. His whole point was I want to get paid. In addtion, with YOUTUBE Streaming service coming the whole issue is now going to be resolved for all artist.

Indeed.

.

I would guess that this is merely a means to make his music readily available searchable as part of the YouTube Music service.

.

So, while it is cool to have this stuff available in this format. I'm not sure it signals a major re-think of his outlook.

.

Though here's still hoping for the mutli-disc edtion Blu-Ray of *all* his music videos...

This has absolutely nothing to do with the recent uploads

I hope the page is legit, if it is... This is a huge step and maybe all part of WB master plan, it's either a sign of good things to come or nothing at all.

I've already explained this to you: This is no different than Prince's music showing up on Spotify or even iTunes, Amazon or your local record store. Warner has the license to this music, and they can place it where they wish.

i was going to post about this, so i'm glad someone else did.

.

the problem is... these videos aren't formatted in the way normal youtube videos are. e.g. "Artist - Song", so i would die 4 U would read "Prince - I Would Die 4 U" instead the video just reads "I Would Die 4 U" by the Prince topic channel. this may not seem like a big deal but it actually makes some songs hard to find by just searching on youtube, although hopefully their search will get better as this is a new service. the videos arent available in all countries, but i can view them in the US.
