a) We don't really speak Spanish in this part of the world. Its only spoken in Latin America, Spain, Phillipines and parts of USA. b) What language is it then?

.

The majority of the responses so far are coming out against Boytrouble as we al know its a throwaway filler track.

[Edited 11/5/14 17:34pm]

That's fine, not everyone has to like the same songs. I think it's fun. No idea what language it is but certainly not Spanish. And I still don't understand why it bothers you that people speak other languages. The 'only' you wrote before Latin America, Spain, Phillipines and parts of USA is funny... Paz y sé salvaje. wink

Yeah, I mean, that's like, what, 500 million people? Why can't they all learn English?

You ever step on cat vomit while barefooted and feel the moist, pukey chunks squish up between your toes? I'd rather do that again than listen to BOYTROUBLE.

Boytrouble and Stopthistrain really should have been left as one-off or bonus tracks or something. The album is more consistent and more enjoyable without them. I've surgically removed them and tacked them on the end of my playlist. Boytrouble might have been cool if it was just an instrumental that featured Ida. To be honest, I think that's the only reason it's on there - to feature Ida - but then it's ruined by all the silliness in the vocals and lyrics. Frustrating. Ah well... I still enjoy the album as a whole.

Horrible track. I believe it may be the only thing he's ever put out which could be improved by putting Tony M on it. It's that bad.

Nope. Boy Trouble is bad enough as is. That would make it worse. If it was an instrumental, it would still stink, but would be much better.

It's not Spanish. It reminds me a lot of the 'secret' language which a couple of my brother's girl friends used to speak to each other. It's an obfuscation of the natural langague with different sounds inserted at various points so it ends up sounding like giberish unless you know what you're supposed to be listening for.

It's pretty much annoying talking over the music, which Prince is very fond of. Just another quality about these albums I don't like. The sad thing is, I like both albums, but the distractions and sound effects remind me of trying to read a good book when somebody's child keeps asking annoying questions, or somebody has a TV up too loud in another room.

The annoying "Mr Nelson" garbage on AOA drives me crazy. I've edited out as much as I can to have a better listening experience. It's even worse than the stupid NPG operator ruining the end of Billy Jack Bitch...and of course, my signature makes it loud and clear how much I hate stupid talk that may sound cute the first time you hear an album, but it sounds so horrible as the album gets older.

I actually quite like the track. Great bass and the track is kinda fun. No problem with the rap and think the production tricks on her voice are cool.

What I'm amazed at is people (except one on this thread, who has come close) not t getting what the "Spanish" voice is - do most of you really listen to the music, or do you just hear it? (There is a difference!). It is an edited voice, with words chopped up in various places and re-joined together so that it actually sounds like a familiar language but is actually just gibberish. Again, quite fun, fairly novel (but not without precedent) and fits with the track's light-hearted theme.

So you're saying you believe it's edited in production as opposed to being pig latin or some such? I assumed it was the play language because it's mostly a girly thing and would fit the song. I can also quite imagine Hannah speaking it when she was younger.

I had this strange little device years ago that would cancel out about 95% of vocals. Like a big dummy I threw it away.

Does anyone realise lizzo, who raps on the track is a pretty hip choice to perform vocals?

There's elements of old school here too, i mean its not quite ESG or Tanya winley but ts not a million miles away either.

I am amazed how many like it. It is like what Captain said "11% of Prince fans pretty much love anything he does". Basically if Prince shit brix, they would run out and buy them!

.

Okay so I struck out with my remarks about Spanish, I got it wrong, as on Musicology there is Spanish in before the man in yo life and I have heard it on other albums. It sounded similarly, loud voices, quick talking, syllables I could not recognise, ending in o and la. If it is Pig Latin, then I was close, as Spanish is a Romance language based from Latin like French, Italian, Romanian, Portuguese and Romansh (Swiss minority language).

.

Still does not mean I like the song, it needs to be on a protege album, Plectrum Electrum to me is a Prince album with 3rd eye girl, rather than 3rd eye girl featuring prince. My guess is he wrote most of the music, played and it was recorded at Paisley Park. Okay Joshua produced, but its still 80% Prince.

.

Boytrouble is bad Gwen Stefani mixed in with Jessica Simpson and Disney Pop. I mean the "Here come the boyz" sounds like 16 year old girls waiting for a group of Justin Bieber c.2011 lookalikes to come, and having names like Zach Chadwick, Chad Zachary.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

More like 40 percent, I think. You can tell Prince wrote a lot of the lyrics, but I have doubts about who is playing most of the music.

Except Pig Latin is not based on Latin, it's a language game based on English..

From wikipedia:

Pig Latin is a constructed language game in which words in English are altered according to a simple set of rules. Pig Latin takes the first consonant (or consonant cluster) of an English word, moves it to the end of the word and suffixes an ay (IPA [eɪ]). For example, pig yields igpay, banana yields ananabay, and trash yields ashtray or rashtay (dependent on location/preferences).

The objective is to conceal the meaning of the words from others not familiar with the rules. The reference to Latin is a deliberate misnomer, as it is simply a form of jargon, used only for its English connotations as a strange and foreign-sounding language.
