Songs You Don't Like '90s Albums

this should be funnier/juicier than the '80s thread evillol

or perhaps an overall more frustrating/miserable experience neutral

GRAFFITI BRIDGE

I dislike the entire album/approach other than Question of You, Joy in Repetition, Elephants & Flowers, and of course Thieves in the Temple (which feels like the lesser of all his 78-92 classics)

DIAMONDS & PEARLS

Daddy Pop

Jughead

Push

LOVESYMBOLALBUM

- (10/10)

COME

Loose

THE GOLD EXPERIENCE

- (10/10)

CHAOS & DISORDER

Chaos & Disorder

I Like It There

Into the Light

I Will

EMANCIPATION

the vast majority of songs, actually; I made my own (12 songs) version of this album

THE TRUTH

"Dionne"

"Man In a Uniform"

"Animal Kingdom"

"Fascination"

KAMASUTRA

bored the entire thing

RAVE UN2 THE JOY FANTASTIC

Hot With U

Everyday is a Winding Road

I Love U, but I Don't Trust U Anymore

Silly Game

(I quite LIKE the rest of this much-maligned album)

CharismaDove

Graffiti Bridge: Tick, Tick, Bang ( neutral the 1980/81 version kicks this one's ass so hard. I hate it)

The Latest Fashion isn't all that either.

I'll keep this restricted to Prince music only ^

.

Diamonds & Pearls: Willing & Able (overrated and unspectacular. Slows the album down).

Jughead

Push

D&P's best moments are breathtaking, but the album as a whole's so uneven.

.

Symbol: Arrogance (wtf is this)

The Sacrifice of Victor (filler type ending)

3CoG grew on me, it's okay.

.

Come: Race (even though Come is a deeply flawed & confusing album. I make my own edit of it)

.

Gold: We March (filler, filler, filler..)

.

The Vault: The Rest of My Life

.

Rave: Rave, Everyday's a Winding Road

.

I skipped Emancipation and Crystal Ball because jeez those two albums are just too long atm. As a whole though, I have to say I loved P's 90s work cool

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

There are a few, contrasts to my 80s list, in which there are hardly any songs until Batman. The list includes stuff I really don't like. I have not included fair or meh! quality songs and there are a lot in the 90s.

.

GB - Quite a few here, Release it, Tick tick bang, Melody Cool, Love Machine, The latest fashion, Graffiti Bridge (Even if u can call this 90s, most of it was written in the 80s)

.

Diamonds and Pearls - Only Jughead

.

Love symbol - Arrogance, The Flow, all the segues

.

Hits Bsides new trax - Pope

.

Come - Solo

.

TGE - None, it is an amazing album

.

Chaos and Disorder - I rock therefore I am

.

Emancipation - We gets up, Mr Happy, Facedown, Da da da, The Plan, Friend mother sister whatever the fuck its called, Slave, New World, Human Body, Lets have a baby, Joint 2 Joint.

.

The Truth - Man in a uniform

.

Crystal Ball - Make your momma happy, get loose

.

New power soul - Freaks on this side, push it up, Soo bed ooh, When u love someone, until ure back in my arms, Mad sex, Eye like funky music

.

The Vault - None all of it at least meh!

.

Rave - Prettyman, So far so pleased, I love u but don't trust u anymore - boring shit,

.

Exodus - a great album, ruined by all the stupid as fuck segues.

.

Kamasutra - all of it, it is boring lift music.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Because it's overwrought and silly? Of course 'Let's Have A Baby' takes the '90s prize there, but still...

I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore is a devastating masterpiece.

never understood why some people tried/try to elevate I Love U But I don't bla bla to the realm of classics...

it's just ONE OF THE MANY adult-contempary/modern R&B so-so ballads he made from 1996 to 2000...

GRAFFITI BRIDGE

Title track I guess. It's just syruping and ick - but hey I know it word for word I even do Mavis' parts, so...

DIAMONDS & PEARLS

Jughead I suppose, other than that nothing. I can live without Insatiable (yet another icky cookie-cutter luuuurv ballad), Cream (overplayed I guess) and something about Live 4 Love has always felt off to me, but it's OK.

LOVESYMBOLALBUM

The Flow, again I suppose - I still listen to it if I'm playing the album. My inner Tony M is there for sure, I love how Prince's mind works where THIS is his version of rap, some MC Hammer clone in a rock opera about an Egyptian Princess who's been groomed for years by a paedophile rockstar, genius! Can't hate it.

COME

Nadda

THE GOLD EXPERIENCE

We March. I'm going on a protest march to have this song erased from history.

CHAOS & DISORDER

Dig U Better Dead, I Rock Therefore I Am, duh. Embarassed for him, bless.

EMANCIPATION

I Can't Make U Love Me, Mr Crappy, Da Da Da, Curious Child, FLSMW (autopilot luuurv ballad and totally icky), Slave (self-pitying tripe from a world famous multi-millionaire), title track (what a let down of a title track of the "album he was born to make" - pathetic attempt really, really no effort made whatsoever, that's when I often don't like something, a lack of effort to do something interesting).

THE TRUTH

Animal Kindom, not crazy about Fascination, One Of Your Tears, Don't Play Me (more self-pitying cum-rag material).

CRYSTAL BALL

Poom Poom - utter shit, it's like MPLSound condensed into one song, hideous. An Honest Man (we got the SHIT version guys!), superfluous remixes and Make Your Mama Happy is very meh, he was clearly holding back the decent mid-80s stuff and threw a bone with this boring slop.

RAVE UN2 THE JOY FANTASTIC

Everything except ILUBIDTUA. Any track that isn't outright terrible is either boring, thoughtless or lacking any spark or energy - or all of the above. Everything is auto-pilot even the "quirky" moments are there to be purposefully eclectic. Yuck, yuck, yuck. And the title track is complete tosh, it was unreleased for a reason. Of all the great 80s unreleased songs to base a comeback project around he chooses one from the very tailend of the 80s. In fact this one track sums up the EXACT moment when he went off the boil creatively. Flatter than a prepubescent girl who just got steamrolled crossing the road on Shrove Tuesday.

[Edited 11/5/14 7:48am]

Rave title track is one of his best 80s outtakes imo. I think it's one of the most avant-garde songs he's ever recorded. His vocal delivery is on point, very freaky and edgy.

Shocked by the ones in bold.

Facedown - Boring and morose rap, takes more than a motherfucker or two for me to like a song.

.

New World, Human body - bad early 90s style dance tracks that have dated badly sound like Madonna remixes from c.1991

.

Joint 2 Joint, ruined by all the jabbering in spanish and the sex me chick.

.

Last song, seriously overwrought and silly ballad, Prince can really kill a ballad, besides the I don't like songs, theres a lot of very mediocre filler on Emancipation.

.

1996 to 2000 was probably his flattest period, autotune and bad rapping along with sugary sickly sweet ballads and plastic drums everywhere!!!!!

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Chaos and Disorder: Chaos and Disorder, I Like it There, Right the Wrong, I Will

Emancipation: We Gets Up, I Can't Make U Love Me, Mr. Happy, In This Bed I Scream, The Plan, Face Down

Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic: Rave, Undisputed, Hot Wit U, Tangerine, So Far So Pleased, The Sun Moon and Stars, Every Day is a Winding Road.

Every album is uneven and a mixed bag to me, with the exceptions of "Purple Rain", "Parade", the June 3 1986 " Dream Factory", "Sign o The Times", and as a listening experience- " The Rainbow Children ". Which is fine- Prince is still the most interesting artist of my lifetime
