Will be honest.........I was watching that 3rdeye more than his other two during the performance. Maybe he is on to something here.....

The 3rd eye when u actually tune in...means you 'see' more on another level, intuitively, metaphysically. I think the glasses represent sheilding oneself from too much revelation...willfully restricting the 3rd eye...protecting oneself from too much too fast....
