Even when Christgau was relevant, he was known for too self aware, and political with his reviews. He stopped being relevant a long time ago though.

???? i fucking hate this logic. Are you 13? What does that even mean? "Relevant"...to what? The message board on prince.org? Try to think harder, and better words might come.

I'm old enough to have picked up Christgau's reviews on a weekly basis, in print. When critics had pull and their opinions were relevant to audiences. People would read reviews before hearing the music, and decide if they wanted to spend their money. Christgau had influence. He ran the voice, had pull at Creem and Esquire and Rolling Stone, and other places where Rock writing was a focus. Bands would routinely name check him in interviews over their frustration with his reviews. Sonic Youth wrong a song about killing him. John and Yoko played him test pressings. People bought Consumer Guide. None of that is happening today. He is not relavant. That's what it means. He has no pull.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

It's hard not to notice from many years perusing the org that the funkier snappy sounding albums are rountinely favoured over the more laid-back affairs. Which annoys me. A lot. Because I am the connoisseur of taste, and I like to think Prince fans have universal taste.

But anyway ego aside for me Planet Earth has less filler and is a 9 and I'd give AOA an 8, the weaker tracks being obvious.

AOA doesn't have "Resolution" on it, so it wins by default no matter what else it is or isn't.

I liked Resolution and I'm agnostic/atheist
