yeah well we all want a lot of things. I should be in Portland Oregon, appearing in a tortilla.

But seriously, the best laid plans of mice and men - or in this world, worms and weather - U2 have once again beaten Prince to the punch in fascistically taking over your operating system and dumping content onto your eyeballs and ears - you can here them now discussing multi level marketing and "psssssssss", what? "psssssss" pyrami "sssssss" tax avoidance "pssssssssss" yeah i thought the arms dealer in Deus Ex Human Revolution was type cast too "pssswswsssswess" yeah, you'd be lucky

So we'll have the entire Neil Young catalogue on your iPhone "pssssssss", no come on, you'd have to run the tapes through a spacial mastering process that simulates 3D "psssssssss" well ok but you do know how much space "pssssswwswsssswwwsssssss".

Ahem, 2045.

I gotta believe Let's Go Crazy Reloaded was made specifically for a Purple Rain 30th anniversary remaster.

My only question is whether Prince would consent to releasing a remaster of Darling Nikki with the original lyrics, since it obviously goes against his religious beliefs now.

I would seriously doubt it. At the 3rd Eye Girl shows, Prince slowed down tons of older songs. It was his new pattern. Only She's Always In My Hair sounded good to me, but I like the original versions better. I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man was only played in full on the SOTT tour, and then he played heavily edited versions around 1997-00 that were ok, but I hate shortened edited songs.

I think, for Prince, it's important to look as though he doesn't care about this. Like he's not hanging his hat on Purple Rain. They interview him like "Oh Purple Rain, yada, yada" and he's like "Fuck that shit. Old azz bs music". He knows it's his bread and butter.

I believe WB will release it around Christmas to cash in on the holiday season. Had they released it this summer, it would have competed with AOA & 3EG. It would either rob those 2 albums of sales, or vice versa. Prince could get people to buy 2 albums at once, 3 would be a stretch.

By December, people will have forgotten about the 2 new CDs, and will be buying the PR remaster as a gift. The holiday season is notorious for a deluge of "greatest hit" packages and remasters, etc.

As for what it will have, I think that's anyone's guess, except Prince. My guess is the album on disc 1, and 3-4 outtakes and the b-sides on disc 2.

My $0.02

If a remaster PR is released it will be probably 2 versions 1 version: with 2 discs (deluxe) with perhaps original album, bsides, and perhaps 2 songs not released. The other version just remastered regular PR album. Prince could release both and a new Prince and the NPG album as tag on sales. With a Purple Rain remaster out that would increase sales of any new Prince product.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

This month of October is almost over, and not a peep about the Purple Rain Remaster. It's looking like this may not be released in November, as many of us was hoping. There is always December, but if we sill don't hear about this project...then....you know.

I noticed David Z (and Bobby Z or Dr Fink?) were at PP recently, I hope they have been roped in to work on the re-mixing/sequencing etc. Nice idea to get original members involved (shame he didn't get Susan Rogers!). As he has been busy/more interested in 3rd Eye girl recently ('he doesn't look back'), I can see that he would get others involved to do some of the work on the PR remaster. My hope is they have unearthed some outtakes!

unfortunately..despite this press release from WB last April

"

Warner Bros. Records revealed the reissue plans today when they announced a new agreement with the star which will, to quote the press release, “see the release of long-awaited, previously unheard material, while giving the artist ownership of the master recordings of his classic, global hits.”

....space for this release of PR Deluxe is more and more less probable day after day ...i don't see this happening NOW...so sad !!
