Prince goes to YouTube for music, too: Some Prince fans who want to go to YouTube to pull up their favorite track or performance have long complained that Prince is overly aggressive in removing that music on copyright infringement grounds. So they might be surprised that he uses it to look up music and old performances of others. When the point is underscored as he watches an old James Brown clip, he says: "James Brown has an estate — so do I," then adds: "People need to stop tripping."

Read the article for yourself. Prince's point is that each recording artist has a choice on how to enforce protection of their intellectual copyrights, James Brown estate is lax on his material being on YouTube, Prince isn't. Executors of living and deceased musicians have some control on how their music is sold and distributed.

I found it interesting that he has so far rejected major label support. But in some ways I wish he had that support because nobody I know has ever heard of this dude. Yet. And even the worst track on his album blows away all of the tracks on AOA.

Yeah, interesting indeed... I'm wondering if P had some influence there. Or maybe he just could'nt get a fair deal from a major... which is common for brand new artists.
