Howard Stern comments on new Prince They were previewing some of the new Prince songs on Howard Stern this morning and Howard goes, "guess this is the shit you have to listen to before he gets to Purple Rain." Even though it's making fun of my favorite artist, that shit's funny.

& why would anyone want to listen to that slimy C**T? The mans' opinion is totally irrelevant!

Howard Stern has a HUGE following. I like how the title is fair to Stern in that he literally commented on it without going super positive or negative. If anything that comment alone could inspire sales.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

As hilariously incorrect as Stern can be, he's off-base with AOA.
However, I anticipate it might take certain quarters some time to catch up as they are strongly invested in their previous opinions and judgements of any new Prince material. Thus the preponderance of negative comments (though the positive reviews outweigh the bad) that don't even apply to the new recordings.
Even the criticisms are old and recycled. There's little evidence of genuine engagement.

I think AOA is a technology based release and not meant to be played live, Plectrum will get more live play than AOA.....and well it should, ANOTHERLOVE my GOD that shit will rock live.

It's still publicity so it's all good. It's not as if his audience takes him that seriously anyway.

Why can't people quit holding purple rain over Prince's head. Good lord... It was 30 yrs ago! If he was still trying to duplicate PR, everyone would be bashing him about that. AOA is different. It's good to some, bad to others.. but for God's sake, quit comparing everything he does to PR..and stop wishing he could recap the same fame.

Howard has spoken of him before...he does respect P as a musician but seems to think he's an A**hole, probably for the same reason he hates Madonna (neither will ever do his show)....all IMVHO of course. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Well, we know he listened to some of the songs at least. I don't hold everything up to Purple Rain, but I wasn't really impressed with AOA.

It's not about fame, it's about the quality of his output.

I've never liked Howard but I'm starting to like him now. Andy is a four letter word.

prince did offer to do his show but only if he dosent have to talk to howard.

I'd like if Howard Stern said it's the best album he ever heard. It would mean there's hope for the jaded and lazily sarcastic.

I love Prince. I love Howard. I hate them both. I would love Prince to be interviewed by Howard. There really isn't anyone better at interviewing celebrities, as Howard has proven over the last couple of years as his show has become super-driven by said interviews (instead of comedy). On the other hand, it would probably end up being one of the few shitty interviews Howard would do, mostly because Prince is often so far up his own opaque ass that Howard would have a hard time pulling teeth with him. If Prince would agree to cut the bullshit (if he can even tell what's real and what's bullshit inside and outside his own head any more), and Howard went relatively easy on him (which he CAN do, when appropriate), I think it would be fantastic. Chances are it would fall flat, however.

He's part of the race to the bottom in this country. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Yes and no. He does go to the base of society and props it up as his platform to use shock to stir the masses in believing that he cares about the common man's voice. In reality, it's to advance his personal identity, to feed his sense of self importance and wallet. Although, he can some times keep it real, I find him more like Oprah and that feeding one's self importance, through the guise that you're cutting through society's BS in order to be more enlightened crap. Although, Oprah is a touchy feely version and Stern is the crass version. (Did any of that make sense? lol) 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

If reality stars aren't one of the "7 signs," I'd be surprised! 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

The race to the bottom is Corporate America dumbing us down, dividing us in halves(rich/poor, white/black/latino, republican/democrat), and selling us canned-rebellion. Howard Stern, love him or hate him, is not the problem with America. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

Howard was working with the photographer that was working with Prince at one point. Ps assistant was in discussions about Prince doing the Stern show. Howard wanted an interview. Prince wanted to go on the show and perform with no interview. If some people do not do the show he will bad mouth them. Guaranteed if Prince did Stern show that Stern would then talk like he is greatest musician ever. That's how it works in Stern land. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?
