According to Prince's brand new FB page, the page is liked by my brother...who died 3 years ago!

Can someone who understands FB explain to me why this has happened? Was there an earlier FB page that he may have "liked"?

Yeah.

So basically, Facebook auto-creates "Pages" for popular content even if there isn't an official presence.

If you are the artist, you can request to claim these pages as your official presence.

Interesting. I was just on the Prince Facebook page wondering how he could have 2 million likes when the page is pretty much brand new. Same thing a couple weeks ago on Twitter. 3EG tweets 30 seconds ago and already had 26 favorites. Same thing on Dr Funkenberry's page where a 3EG video will have hundreds of thousands of views in like a day or so. Meanwhile I can't remember the last time I came across a Prince fan in the real world. hmmm

Thanks, that explains it. But I'm pretty pissed off about it to be honest. It's not cool to see a deceased loved one has "liked" a new page.

It's not a new page, that's the point. It's just an official page now, where it wasn't before.

Blame Zuckerberg.

^^Yeah, I know someone that uses one of those companies that gives out "likes" because others find her so annoying that they don't give her likes anymore.......people are utterly ridiculous! disbelief

I was wondering how I already liked the page. I'm sorry, I can't imagine how you feel to see that though.

That explains how I automatically "like" the page before it became his official page.

No, he just KNEW who his true fans were and decided to just add them since they would 'like' him anyway.

Side note: Am I the only one that had to manually 'like' the page today? hmm

Yea, it basically means your brother "liked" the page when it was just "Prince" the artist/musician page that had all that content and a wiki write-up of him. Like Militant said, it seems as though the real Prince saw how many people "liked" the page and probably asked for ownership of the page to make it official. Hence, the "new" announcement that it was official.

Prince truly is the man!

I had "liked" him years ago and he's appeared at the bottom of my "likes" for music ever since, but when I woke up this morning he was placed as the first one! What's even funnier is that I've had Rick James as the first one, but due to all the page merging Prince even managed to usurp his old rival. I tell you, only Prince could pull this off. lol

Time is an illusion. Now we have at long last a solid proof for that claim!
