JoeTyler

3 / 5 (overall) ; 4/5 (enjoyment)

a curious late-career (band) album which shows that Prince can still release energetic, enjoyable and fun music (though not very memorable), when he's not obsessed about sounding contemporary or "relevant"; the perfect antidote against AOA...

I think it works. If they toured this record, I'd go and see it - considering I had next to no expectations I give it 4/5 clapping

I really liked Wow, Anotherlove, the title track and Whitecaps, but PlectrumElectrum is that kind of record that has the illusion of sounding longer than it actually is.

3/5

I'm in a generous mood as am with friends & drinking wine. I'll score PE 1.5/5.
PE fails 2 deliver as an album what 3rdeyegirl are capable of live.

2/5 The album is not coherent in musical style or theme, has several truly awful tracks and Hannah Ford's vocals are weak.

but I'll give it a 3/5. When I first heard the rapping on Boytrouble, I was like, oh god no. But it was alright. It worked.

Garbage!

I love Prince but he is a bit lost. He needs some guidance or something. Not gonna get thay by hanging out with youngsters who just say yes to him. This new AOA release is garbage. So is Plectrumelectrum. And as you can tell, by my screen name, I was expecting a lot more.

3.5 - PE is listenable straight through (although I can only recall a few tracks after two weeks of listening). I am not offended or mad that I paid$$$$ for it.

4/5 I love Plectrum Electrum lightyears more than Art Official Age! Wow is the best sounding Prince song I've heard in over a decade! I love the classic/hard rock of this album. This is some of Prince's best guitar work since days of the Revolution. Between this and AOA, I like a total of 5 songs! I feel I got my money's worth.

With horrible vocals by Hannah and lots of filler, this is one of Prince's worst efforts.

3.5 out of 5 = released almost a year too late so it already feels a bit old, take off Boytrouble and add in Screwdriver with a slight re sequencing and it would be better!
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

While a good effort, the album fails to fully capture the band's potential as previously heard live, because the credible rock songs (Wow, Marz, Anotherlove) are mired by the inclusion of songs with annoying chants (Pretzelbodylogic), incapable vocals (Aintturninround), and immature silliness (Boytrouble).

Exactly the same for me. I haven't listended to it for over a week now, yet AOA daily. Simply too many weak sons on Plec to hold me. I like wow, anothet love, plec, that's about it. Shame as I love all the live stuff to date. 2/5

I gotta revise my score down as well. I was playing it LOUD in my car and most of the songs are just not memorable - the only song I "look forward" to hearing when I play it is Another Love. I liked that the album was short smile would still like to see them live.

3.5/5

A solid album, punctuated by genuinely good highlights such as 'WOW' and 'ANOTHERLOVE', but it's deviation into pop (particularly in the middle section) and heavy inclusion of vocals by Hannah, prevents PLECTRUMELETRUM from being the heavy, raw rock album many of us were hoping for.

This album is also somewhat over-shadowed for me by the utter brilliance and genius of 'AOA'. It does have some truly brilliant moments though.

This album is better than Art Official Age, but still kind of fails to showcase 3rdEyeGirl's musical talent. 3.5/5.

Ok, I've never expected any Prince album to be perfect, he's just not that type of artist, he's always been a singles artist for me, yes like any megastar he had his "Purple" patch 3 Solid 10/10 Classic Albums and then thats it - but Prince still makes great singles - always has and Plectrum Electrum has a hand full - a B side 3/5 - worth the buy! biggrin

Some interesting moments here and there but too many generic musical sounds to really bring it a more complete musical landscape. 2.5 of 5 stars.
