So, are Andy and Prince still dating? I ask because she obviously influenced the songs on AOA.. There was a report from an LA listening party several months back where folks wher saying she was acting like his woman there..Most dismissed it but Time says different.

Why would i be jelaous ,im glad Prince funks beautiful chicks,but i think she is the least talented of all of his protage associated artists. And my opinion is based on what i have heard from her so far. i will repeat Andy Allo cant sing,cant play guitar and she had destroyed Extra Loveable reloaded. | |

-- I agree but if she´s the one who inspired the songs on AOA then more power to her. I love the song Time and it doesn´t bother me one bit that her voice isn´t strong. She adds a very sexy vibe to that song, and it seems that Prince is much more laid back, relaxed and natural when she is around. - Apollonia, Mayte and Carmen couldn´t sing or play guitar either, and they don´t get nearly as much flak as Andy around here.

I think they were definitely dating around 2011-2012. It seemed like they had a falling out in 2013 judging by how quickly she left Princeland. I also remember her saying in an interview that P wrote songs about her but you'd probably never hear them. It seems like they're amicable now judging by how she was seen at his show at the Palladium (technically Liv's show). He also was seen at a couple of her performances at Hotel Cafe and The Mint. The romantic in me believes that he'd like to have her back in his life. I mean This Could Be Us and the lyric changes in Anotherlove seem inspired by Andy. So in sum, I don't think they're still dating but it seems like he still has a soft spot for her, otherwise I don't think he would've included those songs.
Also, I agree that P seems more relaxed pretty much since Andy came around in 2011. She adds a lot of sexiness to the album. I love when he says "Sick and tired of playing hard to get with an animal that's half my age" and then you hear Andy's laugh. Obviously, noting the May-December romance. [Edited 9/27/14 15:50pm] | |

Well i liked 'Superconductor' as a set, and if she inspires Prince enough to make as great a song as 'Time'. That's perfectly fine with me.
Who he dates is of no interest to me. The music he creates from those relationships does though.

I'd invite you to one of her live sessions (she just had another one a few weeks ago) where it's just her and her guitar no gimmicks, no sound manipulation, just her voice and her strings. She can sing very well and her guitar playing is very good now as well. She's not nearly as green on the guitar as when Prince first brought her around. You can learn a lot in three years, and its evident to me that she has when I see her play now. Change it one more time.. | |

No, Andy Allo has the best Prince protege album in a long time. Her contributions on AOA are great as well. Plus, she's good looking and very down to earth. Don't understand the hate. Most of the women P promotes can't play instruments let alone sing. | |

I mean its ok for you to like her Dave but is it really fair to say Andy have fucking amazing voice? If you think Andys voice is amazing ,im curious what do you think of the voices of singers like Donna Summer,Irene Cara,Taylor Dane? Now those 4 voices are fucking amazing. p.s. every live recording of Andy Allo is off pitch ,always flat. sHOW me a live recording of Andy Aloo that is not offkey and i will apologize for saying that Andy is the worst singer in a Prince camp.Do you think Andy is a better singer then Vanity? Imagine Andy singing Faraway Eyes by Vanity? In the chorus of Faraway Eyes Vanity reach some high notes Andy can only dream about. I named Vanity because Vanity is considered to be one of worst singers in a Prince camp. But somehow im sure Andy would have problems with trying to sing that particular song especially the chorus after Vanity repeat the words Faraway Eyes for the second time. What is amazing about her whispering? My initial thoughts were that these tracks (well at least her vocals for these tracks) were recorded when they were still working together.
That said, there are quite a few tracks that speak to his pursuit of someone who is not as enthralled with him to come to his beckon call. Andy's parts in What It Feels Like & Time both indicate a woman who is standing her ground. Her presence certainly accompanies a level of maturity and nuance in Prince's songwriting--whether the tracks on Superconductor, or here on AOA. And her voice complements his nicely on record. Excellently put. She don't sound like Aretha...but damn. She just a little singer/songwriter. Whatever the quality of her voice...it hasn't seemed to have harmed the song...it sound great. I agree her voice is quiet, cute, coy, and underwhelming. What was needed of her in the song occurred. Nevermind that prince is singing through a phone and sounds terrible...Andy is Satan's spawn. I wouldn't want a different voice...or ANYthing different. The trak is perfect for me. Oh wait....maybe prince sang through a telephone so that his 'angelic pipes' wouldn't relegate her chords to flatulence.  | |

However she is easily a million times better singer than mayte, vanity and Carmen Electra. I would say she's better than Sheila also. And her music is together with Liv wardield the best music Prince has given any of his protégés, even though a lot of it is not entirely arranged and produced by himself. I think most vocal coaches would agree that she beats most of his face and body only proteges. Her Thon voice is a genetic thing. I second this comment. Ive never really seen any "credible" reports to say they were ever dating. I thought they always had a professional/music related friendship or something.
I also agree that Andy Allo is by far one of the more talented Prince protege's to come along. Her Superconductor album was actually quite good. | |
