Who would you have fired from The Lovesexy Band?

I'll start this thread off by saying that I would have fired Miko Weaver, simply because he brought absolutely nothing to the table that Prince (under his own terms of course!) could have used like Dez Dickenson & Wendy Melvoin would have.

Now who agrees with me? biggrin

I definitely do not agree.

I would have fired no one, that band was great, all of them. The weakest link might have been Boni, but even she did a good job at being a background voice.

Miko was awesome at playing guitar when Prince was busy on stage. In fact he was so good at it sometimes it was hard to tell the difference, espcially during Anna Stesia.

Even when Prince and Miko got in a big fight during the Nude tour rehearsals, he kept him on with the band. Mainly because Miko could flat out play.

I would have bounced Cat! The SOTT/LOVESEXY band was the most musically talented band Prince had. Miko is a great guitar player and as mentioned above, Miko could mirror Prince's playing style so well it was hard to tell who was who. The only person I would switch out would be Levi for BrownMark. People underestimate how great a bass player BrownMark is.

Since BrownMark was the one Prince wanted anyway, and Brownmark has a strong silent presence

I still would have prefered Lisa Colemans playing to Boni

But letting Wally & Gilbert go was the best.

the perfect band would have been a combination of the Revolution & Sheila E

.

Sheila E on percussion and switch drums with Bobby at times

Add Eddie M with Eric & Atlanta

Steph B was a great guitar player too

But Prince's Lisa & Wendy magic I would have to keep Wendy + Miko or Steph

.

One of the bad things about the end of the Revolution was lack of protege action.

a full Madhouse band would have been cool

Miko was essential on the Parade tour and great on SOTT and Lovesexy (aka Lovesex) as well.
