Any songs randomly or frustratingly missing from your collection?

I have a ton of Prince. All official albums, lots of unreleased studio and live material, many singles and b-sides and extended mixes. But I've never tracked down a copy of Horny Pony. This frustrates the hell out of me. Yet not enough to motivate me to pay for the European CD single.

Do you have any random or frustrating or mysterious gaps in your collection?

I have a live version. Is the studio version worth it?

"Horny Pony" is absent from my collection and I'd like to keep it that way! smile However, I used to have a version of "I'll Do Anything" that's different than the one heard most often. I lost it when my old computer crashed. It was a bit slower and sparser and I believe Mayte's voice could be heard on it. I loved that version. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I remember listening to Madrid 2 Chicago on a university computer. I wasn't able to download it or rip it, and so it got lost in the dark trenches of my memory.

I've never been able to find a decent-quality mp3 version.

There are still a certain number of rare promo and 7" edits that I don't have, + a few rare internet stream-only tracks (mostly from the late 90's), a few other rarities (for example the cassette-only edit of Joy In Repetition) and "Van Gogh" by Van Gogh (but that one is on iTunes so I just need to purchase it). Except from that, overall I have almost everything at this point. I hope one day I have EVERYTHING but I doubt it'll happen, as some things are so rare.

There's an alternate version of "Gold" that was recorded 4 The Gold Experience that it seems like everyone else has but me. The organ and snare drum are slightly different, but the vocals and guitar solo are the same.

Unreleased or released? There's the unreleased "rough" mix which has much less synth for the most part, u talking about this one?

There's a promo single easily found on ebay, or at least it used to be easily found that had different mixes, and then there's a bootleg mix that wasn't officially released that is on some download bootleg where the keyboards aren't as overwhelmingly overproduced.

The studio version of Pony is not that bad. It is about FOURTEEN TRILLION TIMES BETTER THAN JUGHEAD. I will NEVER listen to that song again. Tony Miserable's HORRIBLE Mr Money Minder Super Cringe-Worthy skit at the end is one of the worst moments in recorded music history. Yes, Gett Off is much better than Pony...but it should've replaced Jughead, and the album would have been stronger.

We're talking about Horny Pony being good or not?

Lol, it is one of his best songs from the 1990s.

Easily attainable. I rank it higher than anything I can think of. Wow.....um, yes, I like it better than most beautiful or anything gold experience, all of come, hmm, 1993 nothing good there, 1992!! oh wait 7 is good and that's it. Now after gold experience....1996 emacipation...i love my computer, that's about that whole year. 97 what was in that year? 98 I actually have always said I like New Power Soul, 99 nothing going on then.

So, in summary, the song HORNY PONY is the best Prince song of the 1990s. 7 is also very good.

Reasoning: These songs are the real Prince. The whole concept of Horny Pony is so crazily unique, and it's a big snap in a circle for Prince's whole world. He is not copying anything out there. It's just straight up Prince. And if you get it you get Prince. If not, that's fine whatever. Everybody different. 7 is also crazy Prince. There is nothing more slamming than Prince throwing out a song like 7 like has nothing to do with anything every on the charts before or after. And what was crazy to me was that at the time I kept watching this song called 7 keep climbing the charts up up up up up it was hilarious to me! People just loved that song. It didn't make it to number 1, but no. 2, but anyway who cares.

Out of my crazy mind perhaps but can anyone name any good song from the 90s I forgot about? I can't wait for everybody to say THERE ARE TONS!!! That's awesome!!!!!

Of course I will say that right there cuddling up with Horny Pony was his friend GETT OFF which I love. Gett Off is quite quite quite crazy strong, but I actually like the slight quirkly edge of Horny Pony that Prince actually decided to chuck off the whole album. I heard it as the Cream B-side on my cassingle (LOLOLOL) and just have adored that thang.

So, I'm still laughing at myself during this whole response in saying the truff that Horny Pony is about the best Prince song of the 1990s. Yup yup it's true.

To be honest, I don't know where to find most of this stuff. I'm not asking. Let me say that again: I'm not asking. I used to. But it just dried up. Plus, most of my collection is live material or unreleased tracks. Relatively rare released b-sides like Horny Pony are sometimes harder to find because they're not as prevalent on boots. Also, I've never torrented and wouldn't know how to start. So, yeah, I have a few gaps in my collection. I wouldn't say that doesn't make me "hardcore." I have thousands and thousands of Prince tracks. That's hardcore enough for me.

Undertaker is good. I think The War is a bit overrated.

I think it gets overrated because it's the most interesting performance that particular iteration of the NPG ever gave. Nobody thought they had it in them.

Im the same., BUT I have been collecting since the mid 80's, so its unfair to ask the same from the newbies.

I always liked "Horny Pony," and obtained it when I purchased the "Gett Off" single. As for my collection, I have most if not all of what I want since I've been collecting since the mid-80s. I will add, which will offend most, that I've always felt that the unreleased studio material was overrated. Usually, not all the time, but usually when I have heard unreleased studio material, even from the 80s, my response is "I see why it didn't make the album." But, that's just me. Of course, that's probably why I don't see as big a gap between what Prince is doing now as to what he was doing in the 80s, but that's another debate. The one song that's missing from my collection, sort of, is the live version of "Honest Man." I have it, but it's a very poor quality that I've had to remix myself to get it to tolerable shape. I love it, and wish I had a better quality version. That's probably why I hate the version on Crystal Ball. The live version of "Honest Man" from an aftershow is just killer. His vocals are sharp and soulful. But, at my age and with my current work and family responsibilities, I don't chase or collect as I once did. I still have a few contacts so I can get some easily obtainable stuff, but I've just accepted that I'll never own a super quality live version of "Honest Man." But, I own most copies of his live shows from 1979 to 2013 LOL Tour so I shouldn't complain.
