Hey...If the Org hates it that means the rest of the non obsessed Prince fans will dig it...

Judging by the positive reaction from social media (Twitter, Facebook, ect...) it's always interesting to see what the everyday world thinks outside of the Org bubble....

Yeah I don't understand why people still bother to peddle that absurd myth.

I hear you, as though W&L introduced Prince to music altogether, when he was making music long before they showed up.lol Anyway, I actually like the beat of this song but could do without the autotune, and the annoying 'uh huh, uh huh'. I actually like this song better than that track 'clouds'.

exactly, his dad was a jazz musician...but W&L introduced him to MIles,,, GTFOH

Exactly.
W&L 'supposedly' introducing Prince to Miles, doesn't validate that he had no knowledge of jazz prior to familiarizing himself with Miles' music, so that orger can GTFOHWTBS. lol It's almost like some fans want to give W&L credit for all of Prince's music skills, as though he can't function musically without them. Next thing you know they'll be saying Prince was born from W&L's womb. lol

It looks like something smart is happening here. Could it be that the song charts with every pre-order of the album (as you get the single as an immediate download) as well as a single download of the song? Hmmm...

Awesome song. Love it. Tried to resist listening to it so the album would remain fresh but caved after finding it out it was being played on BBC radio and has entered the UK top 40.

Contemporary yet credible. His falsetto sounds great over the beat and the auto-tone/vocoder is only used for the first verse.

This has serious potential. Great track.

The entire groove of "Gett Off" is a looped sample directly lifted from EnVogue's "Hold On".

Hmmm...

[Edited 9/2/14 8:10am]

This one is the square root of "Never Gonna Get It"!

Which all originates back to J.B.!

Everybody sample!

And just to mention the unmentioned thus far, how many times has Prince sampled his own stuff?

I still like the song at hand, i wish i could play it louder but the neigbors have headaches!

Absolutely.lol
Anyway, about the track, I don't think age has anything to do with whether some like this song or not, as it seems to be more about individual tastes in music. I'm an older fan who just happen to like the soumd/beat of the track, and I'm particular about that with music. Only thing I don't like is the 'uh huh', and the little bit of auto-tune in it, but at second listen, my ears drowned out the 'uh-huhs', because I like the sound/beat of the song. Also, Prince's vocals sound pretty good in this one. As far as 'Clouds', well, a bit different, and not much my taste, but then again music is about different strokes for different folks-you can either take it or leave it.

Can honestly say that I've been pleasantly suprised by all the tracks previewed over the last week or so. Love the whole vibe of this one. I haven't been overly impressed with Prince's rnb output for a while but this ticks all the boxes for me, laid back, slinky and just a bit sexy. Love it!

The AOA albums sounds like it'll be one of his better received albums in the US urban markets. Im not really an R&B head but I think it sounds pretty nice. Different sound for him.

Change it one more time..

Whenever prince embraces his RnB roots, which is how he basically got started, with his very first two albums 35 YEARS AGO! The sharks come out in droves here, to tear him completely APART...disbelief

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

"...surprise, surprise.

...a little treat of a trick.

...this is sweet.

...which one's which?"

.

Does Prince say this after the "put your hands together..." bit at the front?

I think he knows exactly what he's doing.

Great song.

Prost!

This is COME ON from New Power Soul. Come on came out in 1998.

This is 16 years later. If he would've hung on for 4 more years, U KNOW could perfectly be released as a tribute to the 20th anniversary of COME ON New Power Soul Deluxe edition!!!! yay

Sampling is a huge issue since Prince makes such a big deal about everyone else doing it and then turns around and does it himself.

I'm excited.

It's so dramatic!

Prince not for sampliing and autotune, and whatever else people bring up.

And then he does it himself!

It's kinda Prince's style to be this Joker in the music industry, flipping things around.

He's a true funk soldier, real music, real musicians...and sampling and groove copy cutting on the side.

Gotta love it!!

Too bad, let them bite, lol, because if it wasn't for R&B, there would be no 'rock & roll. So thank goodness for r&b.smile
