Its a bit shocking that he would release another album on a different label within a month after a Warners release
Makes you wonder what kind of contract he signed with Warner Bros
One cannot help but wonder if this will hinder the PurpleRain reissues talks
I'd welcome this album, I hope it see's the day of light and is not scrapped

Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

And I descend from grace, In arms of undertow
I will take my place, In the great below

Just watched it, wouldn't say it was set in stone, just an idea. I wish Dr F would just do a normal audio podcast..

If it's a compilation album of these tracks, it sounds like I might like this better than the other 2 albums.

Now that he's back with WB, maybe this new compilation will feature vocals by Tora Tora.

He announced that there would be a release of all the tracks from the last year and a half that didn't make the albums. Songs like Screwdriver, That Girl Thing, Boyfriend, Groovy Potential, Ain't Gonna Miss U When Ur Gone, Da Bourgeoisie, etc. He didn't mention a label. I'd rather have the NP Jazz album, since most of us diehards already have all those other tracks.

He actually announced that this is happening? Officially? Or this is just his own speculation and/or wishful thinking?

Sorry, don't mean to belabor the point, but a lot of us are curious as to the distinction. I would assume that it was one of his "official-unofficial" announcements, since he went out of his way to tweet about it several times before the spreecast, but about 5 people listen to that thing, so most of us are in the dark as to the context he discussed it.

Thanks for any further info you can provide.

never mind. I forced myself to sit (or skim) through the spreecast. That was excruciating. For anyone that can't force themselves, he does say that the tracks are being comiled into their own collection. It also sounded as if he was reading it from an email or press release or something.

I watched the Spreecast for the first time, and that information really came off as speculation at best much like the whole show. I can see maybe selling a few songs that haven't been available like "Angel Wish", "Check the Record" or "2Y2D". But I'm not rebuying tracks that I've already purchased just because they're on a comp. If it was pressed than yes, but as a digital comp no.

It is kind of painful to watch sometimes, especially when he has fan guests on. It did sound like he had just received the information, still doesn't mean it's going to happen. I wouldn't be totally disappointed if it didn't, unless there are some tracks we haven't heard yet. The Paris DVD can stay in the Vault too! I'd rather have one of the earlier shows, or one to come that has a lot more new material.

Back on August 9th, there was a party/recording session at Paisley Park for NPJazz. The band consisted of John Blackwell, Marcus Anderson, Andrew Gouche, and Xavier (don't remember his last name), and Prince played guitar on a couple songs. The thread for that night in the concert forum was removed shortly after the event, not sure why.

I'm assuming Prince assembled them. They played all new songs for about an hour, then left the stage. Then the DJ played for about 1/2 hour. They came back and said they were going to do the set again. This time Prince came out and played guitar on a couple of songs. They said they had composed all the songs within the last 2 weeks.

Got to give it to Prince, he keeps trying with these meandering jazzy noodlings. Unfortunately, for me at least, they seem a lot more fun for the musicians to play than for me to listen to.

Mmmh, now THAT's a bootleg that I'd love to listen to, has it filtered (not asking where, just IF and how it's called)?

I find it very interesting that prince...

- Got his back catalogue back and seems hot for a remaster/outtakes treatment.

- Releases at long last 2 new albums at the same time.

- Seems to be more willing than for a long time to compose for/with others again.

- Assembles side-projects again (3rdEyeGirl and now this NPJazz thing).

If u aad to that all the stuff we've had online for the past year and a half, it sounds like he's willing to give his career a new boost and that may mean more music for us again. After several years of him primarly acting as a live artist and releasing less and less studio material, this sounds like good news, but let's see...

maybe you've explained it elsewhere, but is there some reason you, constantly, deliberately, unnecessarily refer to Prince as prince in the present day? (or at all for that matter)

It has not filtered as far as I know, like most things from Paisley Park from the last few years. The night of the recording Nik West was also there and posted a short video to Instagram of them mixing it in the studio. http://instagram.com/p/rg2fAMB1fE The following weekend after they showed the 3RDEYEGIRL Paris show, they played the album. I didn't hear that, because I had went into the soundstage area, so not sure if Prince's guitar playing was on it.
