Is this prince.org and a millions ways to diss him? Can someone show me some positive threads about the legend that is prince. I admit i don't like the new album cover for ART , but i won't tell anybody off for liking it , like some do on here. Even some positive things said about prince on here usually ends with a little dig or diss. confused

[Edited 8/28/14 6:02am]

There's a lot of negativity on here in general and is a big reason why I lurked on here for years before I dared to create an account. Nowadays, I just browse around on here for info about him and other tidbits of info that I might not see otherwise. It ain't all bad just have to ignore the threads/posters that seem to relish in negativity smile

Its not disrespectful, we are just all Prince fans with diverse opinions on his music and his public relations. We are a caliber of fans that see him as a human being too. We generally love at least some of his music and movies, but we are not going to blow smoke up his ass all the time.

.

Prince has done stupid shit of late, gagging the net and trying to stop dioscussion and debate about him, along as spending years between album releases and teasing us, so naturally we are all going to be a little upset.

.

Plus we are all different people, we all like and dislike different projects. One album that divides fans is the Rainbow Children, I think its shit, others love it, but because of that we are not going to kill each other, but we are not going to fall over ourselves to be polite about our differences.

.

I feel its more a discussion site about Prince, rather than full blind fan site. Prince fans are not like Beliebers, we are mostly older and more mature, the non Prince threads and forums bear this out. We like Prince but he is not our whole world.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

A better question these days would be:

Is there anything you don't like about Prince we at the Org didn't yet take the time to diss?

Like, I don't remember anyone taking the time to dislike Prince's nose. Surely it is too long and narrow? Got work done on it? Should get some work?

I also don't remember people having a problem with his nails. Prince is not nail aware -- he has not been an innailvator, and surely he sucks a little?

What about his eyes? Too much doe eye make-up, I think we can all agree.

Nah, I seem to remember a discussion that moved to his nose and teeth. Eyes and too much makeup have been covered. You might be on to something about the nails but I'd be hesitant to put money on it. wink

OBVIOUSLY YOU GUYS NEED ME AGAIN! It seems we got more old crazed bats here trying to pass their ''opinion''off as ''relevant critism''. I say whomever made this post is FINALLY seeing what I have been trying to tell these crazed bats for months now!

Don't you worry about these peoples comments because they are undercover Prince lovers, THATS RIGHT! These ol' coots have Prince vinyl to burn & they STILL complain about him! Yet the burn LL THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON P SHIT! I BET you If Princes album dropped at the walmart in the next 48 hours they would be THE FIRST to pick it up. These bitches are hypocrites, they INSULT him & try to pass their bitching off as critism, WHEN IT ISN'T!

I am not sure If you are new here are not; but you will meet REAL fans who aren't afraid of loving their idols!

I can name a couple of dumbasses I see in the chat, HAHA!

But you kno what?!!

You gotta learn to love em!

Don't let them get you down.

With the exception of a few people, that's generally what happens because for the most part, those that don't like something usually just express their dislike and leave it that but those that do like that same something tend to jump in, call themselves defending Prince's honor by making it personal, which is where things head south, real fast. IJS!

I have zero problem with people expressing their distaste but to do it invariably for years (some for well over a decade) almost daily does not make sense. That's not a dislike, more like a fixation.

I'm not crazy about Lionel Ritchie, it might feel good to go to some of his fan sites to disparage his latest efforts, and that's even my god given right. However, if I stay there and voice my low regard for Lionel Ritchie daily for years or decades, I don't simply dislike him -- I have a fixation and like to tell LR's fans off. That's not simply "criticism".

um .. freedom of speech .. people can say what they want how they want .. it doesnt need to be polite or positive .. this is just a place to shoot the shit .. crack jokes .. and discuss prince good or bad .. micromanaging orgers is as uncalled for .. saying prince sucks isnt hurting anybody .. and at least it is honest .. i love the gushers that think all of prince is genius .. gotta have those .. i love the haters that hate on everything .. gotta have those .. i love the ones with taste that honestly critique and pick apart every aspect of prince .. the only people that ruin this org are those that chime in and tell orgers how they should think and how they should post .. short of attacking other orgers there really should be no one dictating how to think and behave here .. so yes .. the real problem are the ones who complain about the negativity .. not the people who are actually negative aka honest

People are quick to cite "freedom of speech" without understanding that it is a standard of law that applies to governments-of-the-people (such as the United States) - not individuals. Prince.org is a privately-owned organization, just like a house. They have an internal policy that is not subject to the government-mandated "freedom of speech" standard. Just like an office or restaurant. Whether you're an employee or just a guest, you can't walk in there, start spouting off things that violate their policy, then cite violation of your right to "free speech" as a defense against their decision to remove you. Doesn't apply.

You want to exercise "free speech"? Start your own website and implement whatever rules you see fit. So long as you don't violate the rules mandated by the server host (in which case, they might yank you off the air as well. razz )

the basic premise of the org is to shoot the shit .. not to tell others how to shoot the shit .. its perfectly ok to say one prince song sucks and the other is good .. the rules primarily apply to hate speech and treating other orgers with respect .. not telling other orgers they have to like everything prince does or keep their mouth shut .. imo any thread that is complaining about orgers should not be in the prince section .. anything prince related pos or neg should be posted here .. let the neg threads run wild as well as the positive .. it gets old when orgers hop on a thread just to complain about other orgers .. that is not the purpose of this forum .. we all know that

I didn't dispute any of this. Just pointing out your misuse of the phrase "freedom of speech" in this specific context. Guess it was somewhat off-topic, but it's something of a pet peeve of mine. People wave the "freedom of speech" flag so fervently that they're often unaware of the fact that does not apply in instances such as this.

Thanks for responding. smile

The difference is most people that have criticized Prince don't come here because we're not crazy about Prince, though. Hell, most, not all but most have been crazy about him 20 years or more and this place has been here for us, for what, about 15 years? To discuss Prince - the good, the bad and the WTF was he thinking...without Prince snatching it away from us, though I'm pretty sure he's wanted to and tried. So why should we just shut up and go away because some other Prince fans cannot handle what we have to say?

You're right about LR, I should have picked an example of an artist I really loved for years but have been acutely underwhelmed with for almost as many. Then I'd have to add some level of insane nitpicking to match what happens here.

As for some not being "able to handle"... crazy talk, we've been living with far far worse levels of acrimony toward Prince, at times very well deserved but with two albums on the horizon still being met by a barrage of negativity and bitterness, it's harder to make some place in our heart for those that make a long term habit of explaining how much they still don't like Prince anymore.
