Here's my 2 cents... Prince and WB went to war over 2 things mainly... The Masters and the fact that Prince wanted to put out too much product. Prince was releasing an album a year aand was practically finished with the next album by the time one was released. I remember a time when he said putting out new music wasn't about the money. Hence the free musicology and planet earth and 2010 cds. Then listen to his Arsenio interview. He talks about the reason it takes so long to put out an album, and that since hes not under a contract, he doesn't have to be rushed to put out one... what? Who is this? And what did he do with Prince? He has flip flopped so much, that it's gotten almost impossible to keep up with his changes of views and opinions. But the one thing that USED to be consistent with Prince, was his infinite drive and desire to put out new music..regardless of charts, regardless of sales..regardless of record labels. Now, the one and only consistent thing about him, no longer exists. 4 yrs and counting with no new album. No Plectrum Electrum, no Purple Rain reissue, No new Prince album... nothing. This is not the Prince we all became a fan of.

This is a little exagerated. There's been Superconductor and there have been dozens of songs released and streamed online, including enough new studio material to cut a 80mn CD with it. Now am I satisfied? No, even with Superconductor that's still (if an album is released in 2014) an album every 2 years and that's far below what we got used to (even though most artists don't do much better than that) and even though I appreciate all the singles and streams I'm an album guy so in the end I don't get to listen to that stuff so much. But there haven't been nothing, if u look at my online discography u'll realize that we've been snowed under music over the last year and a half.

Ok... point taken. Maybe saying NOTHING was an exaggeration. I just want an album.. a real album. Not a single here and there that if combined would make one terrible album. Ya know?

I took the 20 or so new studio cuts we've had since R&RLA and tried to make a playlist: it's near impossible to make a cohesive album with everything, it just doesn't make sense. I'm totally with u on that one, I want myself an album.

Well thank goodness for Game of Thrones, the Playstation 4, and internet porn, or else I would be completely bored waiting on Prince to drop a new album. lol

I was excited about the 3rd eye girl stuff last year...but have lost interest at this point. I am also a little worried the remaster of Purple Rain will contain re-recordings or "re-loaded" versions of those classic songs. I have serious doubts he will release Darling Nikki or Erotic City untouched due to his religion.

I knew a a girl named Nickki who always kept her place clean. She was in a hotel lobby reading a magazine. I say how would you like to waste some time, and I could not resist, so we watched "Home Shopping Time."

Gotta love those lyrics. lol

Anyone who has heard the new music is very aware Prince will be setting a flame with his fans and the industry alike with this release, dormant fans will come running, his peers will come running, every label will have only wished they jumped on this one. It's a sound and style unheard from Prince before.

"Flame" you say? At this point, I would welcome him striking a match! And when he does strike it, I hope like hell it stays lit long enough to become a flame! I'm as big an old school P head as anyone, but let's be realistic. If he and when he ever gets around to putting out a new album and it contains tunes like "Funk and Roll," or what's the name of that desasteroust (top ten worst Prince son EVER) Pretzelbodylogic, or listic, or whatever the hell it was) It will be nothing short comercial dud! I love P, but let's keep it real. If he "brings it," yeah, there will be a "flame," an explosion; perhaps. If he doesn't bring it (such as in the case of the afore mentioned) there will simply be a flicker. He's not going to be able to get away with blowing the dust off some old ass song he recorded in the 80's and throwing it out there without updating it to sound current. Case in point: that latest Michael Jacson and Justin Timbo song. First of all, I don't care for the song. It's a little too foo-foo for me. 2ndly, it's clearly and older, out of step, out of time song that was just thrown out there with the thought that because it's Michael, everyone would lapt it up. I'll say it again, if and whenever Prince gets around to releasing a new album (and that's a big IF) he'll need to bring it; plain and simple. Thos old fashioned slap track driven beats witht the staight "1 and 2" format just don't cut it anymore. And while I'm at it, I might as well throw this in...Oh Lawd...will somebody in Prince's circle please convince that brotha to do something with that 70's fro!!???!!! It was cool at first, but that thing is 'bout played out by now. Maybe it's just me, but I just don't think my brotha does any justice to his image and any new projects while looking like a member of Confunction (old 70's funk group). P! Where you "at" bro?!? I'm calling you out!!! Bring back the Dazzle!!! Bring back the Dazzle!!! Bring back the Dazzle!!!

That's emotive.

But consider this....if a person has a world-changing idea but never tells anyone, then nothing is changed at all.

I believe what you describe is realizable, but Prince seems more interested in cryptic messages and dreaming on things he might do, than actually DOING what he dreams about.

IMO, that's a new side of Prince we see today.

he's had several listening parties, how is he not telling anyone? he's probably in the studio creating and fine tuning than wasting time over communicating every detail of the plan (whether complete or not), i happen to like the teasers, adds a bit of mystery which is Prince and increased anticipation, he's always been a doer, so many ppl communicate i'm going to do this and that and dont happen to do squat, more work gets done behind closed doors and closed mouths.

Is this to say we should we should all still be anticipating the arrival of the Purple Rain 30th Anniversary album? Oh...I forogt, it's too late for tha...or maybe he's fine tuning it! Yeah! That's what it is! He's fine tuning the album! Purple Rain 30th Anniversary album coming right up....at some poing in the next few years or so.
