Adonis & Batsheba

2 an orgy in a garden of flowers
Adonis & Batsheba flew
All of creation awaits them
As they dance by the crystal blue
Stream of desire and erotic rebellion
That parade through their hearts and minds
They look at one another as much as they don't
2 touch is their need
2 love they are blind
An abandoned gazebo houses what looks 2 be a perfect place
they undress as they re running
Batsheba crying
Adonis - sweat upon his face
4 them there is no morning
Only night decisions so grand
There is no bed, how will they ever
They decide 2 stand
No bed, they decide 2 stand
Adonis & Batsheba in a garden of flowers

I think it's "flamingos stand by the crystal blue". At least that's what i hear. smile And you forgot "Adonis and Bathsheba in a garden of love!" giggle

Could be. The lyrics above is how they were presented in the 10.000 magazine in 1993.

The wooh is on the one!

i've had this song for a while and listen to it often. But I have to say, this is one instance where a guitar solo did not enhance the song. It takes away from the ethereal mood that I hear in the 1st and 2nd verses. I like it, but I really think it would have been better had he nixed the guitar solo and filled that space with...more space or horns.

I respectfully disagree.. that geetar is ethereal.

I feel you...I just think the arrangement, vocals and harmonies that are dominant before the guitar solo are beautiful. Don't get me wrong, it's a great solo, but for me, it kind of removes the feeling I get listening before the solo.

I'm one of those people that could listen to Prince's vocals and harmonies when he goes all-out like this just as much as a well-done/placed guitar solo.

That sums it up competently, yes. Would have made a great album track (it's a bit too weird for a single).

Completely agree.

Me too. Sounds like those songs mashed up into one. And I love it.

Anybody have any info on this? It wasn't something I was included in, but from a reliable source, it has leaked. Any info would be much appreciated.

I googled it and found it easily... Personally I see why it was never released.

Question is, did ANYBODY google and it find it easily before I mentioned it was leaked? Possible, but I'm not bad with google, and I didn't find it until after some kind soul sent it to me from another site that I posted about it on. It really doesn't matter, but it seems my posts at least made more people aware of it, and got somebody to somehow share it. By the time I had listened to it, it seemed the cat was out of the bag.

This would sound better on tape or LP back in the day ... now it's digitialized and it's ruined by a fancy soundforge handjob in the back alley.

If you can't like The Dance, Fury, Reflection, Call My Name, A Million Days, Future Soul Song....then maybe you should move on...

.

NONE of these songs have been performed regularly live. NONE. I wouldn't be surprised that they've been played less than a dozen times over the years.

.

That's how great they are.

.

Also, I'm inclined to report you the next time you copy-paste this crap WHICH IS OFF TOPIC IN THIS THREAD.

I may not always agree with you, but thank goodness you are on this site to shut these people up.

This track is definitely a precursor to, both, "Crucial" and "Adore". Not that you couldn't have told that from the leaked snippet too, but the latter part with the guitar enforces the connection to "Crucial" even more.

How could I not be able to enjoy this?

You know, I can honestly see why she said what she did about this song.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love it. It's quirky, a bit weird and just close enough to cheesy without falling into a bowl of Velveeta. It's truly the kind of song that only Prince could pull off.

But Susan heard it ALL. All the songs we wish we could hear she has, and compared to those, hell, even compared to the ones we have heard, maybe she felt like this one just didn't compare. It wasn't up to his standard for her. And if Adonis and Bathsheba is bottom tier for her I can only imagine what top shelf unreleased stuff he may have.....

hi, i completely agree. the guitar does nothing to compliment this song and makes it lose it's touch... i wish their were more harmonies

I'm feeling a bit fammy™

Well if I do add this to my itunes I'll group it with Parade. July 1986 was obviously not the same recording sessions but I think it fits more with that sound than Dream Factory/Crystal Ball/SOTT sound...?
Just somewhere in the middle,
