I interpreted this as saying that their legacy will live on because Prince has a similar musical background. A hardworking, perfectionist of a musician/performer. Prince has his own legacy, but he is also a gateway to a certain era, and has a great deal of respect for both MJ and JB.

But it insinuates that Prince is derivative of MJ and JB. That he is the keeper of their legacy, rather than his own.

Insinuates nothing of the sort. The legacy of great showman coming from an RnB base will continue with Prince which is lacking today on live stages. I get the impression from the reviews that Prince put on the best show next to Charlie Wilson.

It's not literally true, of course. Just wanted to point that out in case you got some people's hopes up.

Thats cool. Im surprised that even Tom Joyner (who's recently come across as not caring too much for him) praised the show.

Tom was talking all kind of junk about Prince last Tuesday before the show. He was saying he was going to sit in his chair at the show until Prince played a hit. He also said how arrogant of Prince to have given away his Musicology album during that tour.

Tom has a love/hate relationship with Prince, since Prince was gonna charge him a million dollars to perform on the TJMS Cruise a few years back. Tom still plays his music, even the new songs, but he is still salty over that.

[Edited 7/7/14 12:18pm]

CONSIDERING THAT TOM HAS BEEN SUPPORTIG HIS MUSIC SINCE DAY ONE, U WOULD HAVE THOUGH PRINCE WOULD NOT CHARGE HIM A MILLION DOLLARS.

I did but, let's be honest, its was pretty weak, right? I'd give it 2 out of 10 on the humor scale. Not a bomb but Prince.org wasn't exactly rolling about on the floor either.

B- for effort.

I'm sure he is capable of both. But to an extent, hasn't Prince put himself in that role? Given that he is trying to motivate people to keep the idea of artistry and musicianship alive, he seems to feel part of the responsibility is on him.

Can you really imagine PRINCE being stuck on a cruise??? Having to schmooze with people?? C'mon.. Tom has been around long enough to know that that's not how Prince rolls. If he'd have to suffer through that he's most definitely want a good payday out of it.

Change it one more time..

Please these responses are making a mountain out of a mole hill. James B, Prince, MJ legends... Kings of music. He clearly was saying the Prince's live performances recall both of the now diciest stars. No more no less.

Just because you don't like Jesse Jackson personally don't bring your personal shit into his comments.

Bizzare statement... It's bizzare that you think it bizzare at all.

Personally, I don't have an issue one way or the other with Jesse, his era for me is over. To my ears that didn't sound like a compliment. My immediate thought was "What did Prince do to him?" Not good for an inspirational speaker. Even Only pointed out how that sounds by comparison. Nobody wants to be seen as somebody else, they're living to be recognized for themselves, that's just elementary. And Prince is Prince, one of a kind, broke the mold, and all that. I miss Michael and James too, and I get maybe 5% of that statement, but it should have been said far better from a professional. Just my opinion.

So Prince is the Chris Jericho to MJ's Eddy Guerrero and JB's Chris Benoit?

That's what I'm getting from Jesse's statement.

I get he might of meant that he was in the same league as so and so, but that's not what was said to my reading.

Nope....full version. He was with Donnie Simpson and his wife [Edited 7/9/14 20:32pm]

And of course, this must have been many years ago, because Prince hasn't done that song in forever especially with the f word in it? Back in what year?
