DA Bourgeoisie appreciation

Da Bourgeoisie is one dirty funky song. The bass work on it is fantastic. This song is too good to be an Internet throw away, i hope it makes the album. It brings to mind the 1985/1986 sound.

When it first came out I think the nonsense about the lyrics got in the way and the discussion went down that road rather than people talking about just how great the song is.

I truly believe the new album, if we ever get to hear it, is going to be one fantastic funky beast of an album.

I LOVE Da Bourgeoisie alot. The bass is funky and the hornz are phenomenal. Yes, the whole fuss about the lyrics made people concentrate more on the controversy and not the greatness of the song. I still cant understand why people got all pissed about it. I thought it was funny. Anyway it is a funny funky dirty awesome helluva song.

Can't recall how the song goes...... filed away with Cause and Effect, Rich Friends, Hot Summer, Purple & Gold, Same Page Different Book, Song Of The Heart, No More Candy 4U, Feel Better Feel Wonderful, $, Guitar and Life Of The Party......songs with cheesy lyrics and sort of whiney, annoying vocals.

Silly lyrics, I dig the groove though. One of his better tracks in the past year or two imho

The lyrics are narow-minded and offensive (it basically calls gay women freaks and spits at them), and you can only hope that he was 'in character' when he wrote those. sad

I am gay and i didnt find that offensive in the slightest. He is entitled to his opinion. As i am of mine. I dont agree with religion and believe it is only there for people who believe in hell. However is that being rude or offensive? I think that if you get offended it is purely your fault. THere is nothing worse then someone who is not gay getting offended by it.

Its like people dont get offended if you say, 'smoking will kill you,' (if they smoke) but they get offended if you say, 'being fat will kill you' (if they are fat)

I've said before that I have never paid too much attention to Prince's lyrics, if I was bothered about his lyrics I'd probably have given up when he sang stupid shit about fucking his sister. The odd moment aside I've never found him to be a particularly amazing lyricist.

But as for the song in question, I like it.

its really a great song that I appreciate more the more I hear it. Would it be considered a blues song, a funk song, something in between? I find it to be completely its own thing.

I like the moody, almost bluesy feel of the song and I like his unusual vocals especially towards the end, 'It appears that wasn't the case' and 'Charles!' and I even like some of the lyrics, but the homophobic lyrics really ruin the song. I hope we're wrong on the intention of the song, but it sounds really contemptuous, 'the dirty world'.

The songs lyrics remind me of Bambi. I dont find it offensive. One just has to know what he is talking about.

He is entitled to his opinion. He is even entitled to sing about his opinion. But if that opinion he sings about is offensive to a large number of the population who have no control over what they are like it becomes a bigotted opinion and maybe he should keep it to himself. He could even try to empathise and imagine how he would feel if somebody spits at him because he is short.

Bambi doesn't pass judgement. Bambi sounds like he's trying to convince a lesbian to sleep with him.

Society has conditioned you to think that way. just laugh at it and get on with your life. If you don't you are living someone elses life and not yours.

Rich Friends is merely ok. Purple & Gold is not something I'll ever listen to again. But I love the rest of the tracks you list.
