Prince Solo Album vs Prince & 3rdEyeGirl Album?

Which would you most like to be released, if you had to choose? For me it's Plectrumelectrum. From what we've heard the production is stellar and it's a guitar heavy rock album, which I've been wanting Prince to do for a long time. While I didn't like 'Pretzelbodylogic' at first, probably because of the inane acapella at the start, it's really grown on me, it's a good song. 'Plectrumelectrum' and 'Wow' are great tracks, and 'Marz' sounds good, based on live performances. The Prince solo album sounds like an awful stab at chart success, rapping with Rita Ora, songs based on memes... and Bream didn't sound sold on it either. 'This Could Be Us' is catchy, but the production is plastic. What would you prefer?

I definitely want the 3rdeyegirl album. We had tons of prince solo albums, so the concept of a band recording feels more fresh, adventurous and artistic.

Songs like "breakdown" and "this could be us" sound like prince on autopilot, not bad at all, but we've heard it all before. So some outside inspiration from the girls is a good thing.

Give me the 3rdeyegirl album first, and the new prince cd at a later date. I will buy both.

When Prince collaborated with the Revulution during the recording of Parade & Roadhouse Garden, I think the results were far more interesting than some of his more recent stuff. I think this is due to the fact that he was still a young and experimenting musician, and the girls were creative writers in their own right.

3rdEyeGirl is a different animal. They're musicians, but I would be shocked if Prince had anything to learn from them. So, we're really a choice between two solo albums---The Prince album, or the other Prince album (3EG's Plectrum Electrum), but the 3EG album works within the limitations of what the girls can accomplish sonically.

A Prince album with as little involvement from the girls as possible will probably be more expansive and interesting.

I just pray to god the snippet of the song the 3EG twitter account posted isn't an indication of what the album will sound like. It's so damned conventional and boring to my ears.

Prince could make up for whatever the girls can't accomplish sonically, but he doesn't always seem willing to branch out with his sound lately. He's old, and we can't expect perfection. We can expect pretty good though, and I would gladly take both albums. In fact, he could probably deliver a 10 disc set of stuff done since 2010, and I'd take it, warts in all.

With Prince, you know there is some awful song he's gonna throw down our throats as some great song, and there's likely some great song that will rot in the vault.

The solo album. Even if "This Could Be Us" or "The Breakdown" are Prince on autopilot, I enjoy those wayyy more than Pretzelbodylogic and Fixurlifeup.

chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

Prince solo album. I was excited for the 3rdEyeGirl album, but what I'm getting out of it is that Hannah takes lead vocal on some songs. I could be wrong. About a month ago at Paisley Park, Hanna, Joshua, Ida, and Donna all came out and were at the soundboard/dj area and played some new songs. Hannah and Joshua were getting their head banging on. I guess that could be another project altogether, so not really sure if those were from Plectrum Electrum or not. If they were, I'd definitely take the Prince solo album instead.

i think i'd like an album with the best of both those projects.

from what i've heard and read, i think that i'd like a few tracks

from P.E. (Marz, Whitecaps, TicTacToe, FunknRoll and Wow).

coupled with about 7 really strong Prince solo tracks that could

make for a great album i think.

/

but i would still prefer both albums to be released, that way

we get more material. we can always make our own 1 disc

version, if we'd feel like it.

lol
So true. I'm not a fan of songs like Call My Name (which he pushed) or even The Breakdown (which he mentioned on Arsenio). He's done far better ballads in his younger days, and the paint-by-numbers approach to his songs these days makes the slow jams boring.

Most of the songs now remind me of why I prefer Adore, The Beautiful Ones, Sweet Baby, etc.

I'm not sure to what extent future Prince albums will be released under WB, but my hope is there's a semi-return to somethign remotely resembling a schedule with decent tracks. I don't expect SOTT or LoveSexy anymore. Just please god, no more 20Ten or MPLSound nonsense.

Beat me to it. Saw that... is it actual alternate artwork or more fanmade stuff. Looks a bit Public Enemy in font and style. I've stopped losing my mind I'm afraid, can't be bothered. Something will be released at some point but I'm not letting myself be hyped.

.

The longer it goes on the closer we must be unless he never releases anything ever again, which ain't gonna happen, just a lot of soft cock, hard cock, mens semis, oh, there it is with the Daily Mail...2015 is going to be a big year!

"4:42 A.M. in Minneapolis , just had a private concert by Prince and 3rdEyeGirl at Paisley Park....Ida on Bass , Donna on Guitar and Hannah on Drums. They play loud and HARD. Heard new music that was dope! He had a cool chair for me on the stage at his side and I sat there transfixed on every note, every move, every vocal. After every song I yelled and clapped my ass off. It was so amazing it made me sweat. These ladies are so talented and beautiful. I was charmed. And Prince....my heart still skip's a beat. Paisley Park is a fun place. He showed me all my images painted on the walls. "Hey thats me!!!" I said , he just laughed in that cool way he that does. The biggest room will be The Purple Rain room....he will have us painted there, huge murals. "My big head gonna be up there?" He just laughed and laughed. What a great show at First Ave with BobbyZ, Dr. Fink, Paul Peterson , Brian Setzer and many other talented artists. Thank u my brother BobbyZ for all you are to me and I praise God that u are here healthy and happy with us all and bringing awareness about that killer heart disease that takes so many. Thank u to the city of Minneapolis for the support and warm welcome. All news media and radio , thank u kindly for the beautiful words and supporting My Purple Heart. org. Very cool. Must have been fun to see Prince and Apollonia together again like that, and sounds like a great show (lucky folks to be invited to that). Wish I could have gone to Bobby's benefit last night; maybe next year.
