Glam Slam (Remix) question

I'm sorting out files and I relaized I have 2 versions of GS(R).One is 8:52 and one is 8:57. The difference is that the 8:52 version starts straight while the longer one has the same wird keys noise into as the 12" of Alphabet St. at the begining.

.

First I thought some idiot had poorly ripped his maxi on the shortest, editing out the intro, then I look at Princevault and it says it is... 8:52.

.

So I see 3 possibilities:

.

It's 8:57, both Pvault and Discogs have it wrong and my short version's intro has been edited out by a fan.

OR

It's 8:52 and someone really well edited the Alph. St. intro into GS (hard for it segues into Alph St. and not into GS but doable I guess)

OR

There are in fact TWO versions of it, one is 8:52 and the other 8:57, that later coming from God knows what rare promo version of the maxi or something (wouldn't be the first time we discover a rare edit exists and no one ever noticed it so far)

.

Thx for ur help smile

I don't ever remember 2 versions from any of the released formats. The fact that the intro bit is the same as Alphabet St, rather than something similar would make me think it fan added.

There is a bootleg I bought many years ago called "12 inch". One disc contains "Alphabet St" and "Glam slam" back to back. The "Alphabet St (this is not music, this is a trip)" track ends before the last part of the song. The next track picks up at the last part of "Alphabet St" then goes into "Glam slam (remix)". That's probably where you got that remix from.

As already stated, the 12" vinyl of "Glam slam" does not contain the "Alphabet St" noises.

That xplains it all. I had this collection and that's most likely where that mp3 comes from since I'd ripped it long ago. Also means my Alphabet St is probably amputated from its ending! Thanks a lot for clarifying biggrin
