The style of Lotusflower should put it high on my list (I always prefered P's rocker edge) but no matter how many times I play it, it bores me as a whole.

For a start having a cover (crimson) and a near rip off cover (Deamer), didn't sit well with me.

Colonized mind is probably the best of the album

Colonised mind IS a cover song and the biggest rip off of all:

and the only thing barely listenable on a clunky half assed disk of underwhelming skidmarks .. thank god prince took the "ima keep my music to myself" approach ever since .. to stop embarrassing himself and his fans .. i am ready for a solid perfect song from prince .. would love a full album but we know that is impossible for him anymore .. even one song would give a little hope that my hero prince has not become a total putz

I do like the song regardless. And it also confirms that Prince and former orger Graycap held long fireside chats about chemtrails and fema camps.

It's in my top 5. It's the closest thing he's released since The Rainbow Children that shows his extraordinary ability as a musician to convey color through music.

What's to like? He just added ignorant lyrics about evolution and single parents.

I coudn't agree more. Lotusflower is brilliant!!

Top ten for sure!

- unfortunately it either got ignored after so many years of releasing so much music

or drowned out by MPLS and Bria's cd. IMO, neither comes close to Lotusflower.

It's only an impression, I don't have surveys or anything but from what I read here Lotusflow3r seems to be the most appreciated prince album since The Gold Experience, I think pretty much everybody likes it, something that's not so common ever since 1996.

I'm not a big fan of Lotusflow3r and have never understood the love it gets on this forum.

I only really like 3 songs on Lotusflow3r, most are just okay but below average, and there are about 4 songs I don't like at all. It's okay in the middle but I think it starts and end very weakly.

Though Prince's skill and musicianship are obvious, it just doesn't sound like a Prince album to me ... I think the nods to Hendrix are too obvious and it makes the album sound derivative rather than original.

The album artwork is horrible (though that's nothing new in Prince world) and I thought the way the album was marketed and sold was madness.

I'd put it towards the bottom of my favourite Prince albums list.

Top 10 ...

1) Lovesexy
2) Sign O The Times
3) Purple Rain
4) Parade
5) Love Symbol
6) The Black Album
7) Around The World In A Day
8) Controversy
9) 1999
10) Batman

Bottom 5 ...

24) 20Ten
25) Chaos and Disorder
26) Prince
27) Lotusflow3r
28) For You

I'll always love Prince for the genius music he released in the 80s (with the occasional reminderof his brilliance dotted throughout the 90s and 00s) but I haven't really enjoyed a new Prince album since 3121 in 2006.

Yeah I do like Musicology, but it just misses out on my top 10, and it came out in 2004, so everything in my post stands.

ok, a bit off topic, but i was looking at the top 10 posted and i was like MAN! who ELSE has 10-12 arguably A to A+, 9.5-10 type discs in their discography! dude has REALLY spoiled us!! i mean most cats only have 4-7 discs in their catalogue in general (not generalizing or being a "statistician" but...) let alone 10 of superb quality!

hate to poo on your parade but no way are Around The World In A Day and Diamonds & Pearls 9/10.10 albums or certain others that he posted. Damn an album's got to be nigh on flawless to be that good but Prince himself admitted in recent interview that he's ashamed of some of the things he's played

just listening to lotusflower single disc album again and its a top ten album for me out of all his official releases..better than batman soundtrack for me..better than all his 90s releases except for the gold experience..his classics from the 80s are a class above it ...of course..but then they are a class above most artists best albums..

.

boom..crimson and clover..colonized mind...love like jazz..dreamer...love them all...and one track that doesnt get much attention ...$... sounds like something from his classic 86 writing phase..woundnt have been out of place on parade or sign for me...maybe i am in the minority but its a great album for me..would love to hear the vinyl of this..

I think it's real solid .... Easily one of his most cohesive albums in years. He needs to work with younger artists because it doesn't swing if you know what I mean and it sounds a bit dated and there is still the occasional lyric issue. However, it is better than anything he has done in a while and by far

A great track is a great track. The beliefs don't bother me and are "poetic" enough not to hurt it in my opinion. I like it far better than the "original"
