Sign O The Times which DVD is the best???

After the Antwerp concert, where "Hot Thing" & "Forever In My Life" were played,I watched a DVD from The SOTT Concert.

I have it on video, and bought a DVD about 8 yeras ago.

It is the Alliance Atlantis version C 2006/Film Express BV. Dutch language on the cover articlenumber 501030...barrcode 8 713053 010309

The video was horrible (sound and image), on the DVD the image is good but the speed is too fast!!!

Which DVD-version is the best?

Thanks for any answers!

well, I am told the one from Canada, from amazon.ca, but this is of course region 1, (and you need region 2 or 0 in Europe),

Therefor this is the best imo:

This is the dutch, and the most terrible and very cheap too, afaik:

I wore out my vhs copy, turned many on to Prince live with that old tape. Later I had to get that shitty dvd version, showed it to a friend and he thought Prince was lipsynching. I am so glad I found the better quality dvd, ordered it from Canada. Now I can again proudly show to people who don't know about this amazing performance.

Just buy the Australian Blu-ray. Better quality than any DVD, plus at the correct speed. PAL DVDS usually suffer from this: http://www.michaeldvd.com...peedUp.asp

He is lipsyncing. 90% of the movie is Prince & band performing the songs in PP, miming to a live recording from Antwerp of Amsterdam. (Was it ever established which was used? Perhaps it is a mix?) Only small parts of the movie feature the original footage, and when watching it on Blu-ray you can easily spot when this happens, because the picture quality really suffers, e.g. when he's tossing those flowers into the audience.

The new Japanese Blu Ray that just came out is supposed to be pretty good too.

I paid extra to get this from Canada and it is well worth the extra money. The best version I've ever seen of the SOTT movie...

This dutch version was from 2004 and was Copier from the first Brazilian semi bootleg version.

In 2006 a corrected remastered version replaced this. Which at the time (a year after the canadian) was considered the best version.

Interesting issue, Bart. I wonder if I'd notice.

Hmm, according to Ronin Ro's book the audio is also recreated, because on the original recordings there wasn't enough seperation between the tracks. Which makes sense, of course.

Little talked about detail: on all the slates Albert Magnoli is listed as director on the SOTT raw footage bootlegs.

I have the Canadian DVD and it's outstanding. I remember being leery of the quality when I ordered it, but I trusted others here on the Org and verified all product info on the Canadian version.

It makes no difference to me if it's "live" or in a studio. It's still him doing his thing.
