Can I vote for NPG circa 95? Or 2002 for that matter?
I think he should add mr Hayes, renato and horns to 3EG and start playing some diamonds and pearls and symbol era tunes.. How about?

gett off
Walk don't walk
Money don't matter 2nite
The morning papers
3 chains o gold
And god created woman
Diamonds and pearls (full with band)

Even the Game Boyz are better than this whole 3EG thing...

And they helped make Goldnigga, one of the better albums...

I have seen Prince 10 times..... the recent show I saw at Shepherd's Bush Empire was the best.

Therefore my vote goes to 3EG.

However, in the studio I prefer the material Prince has done himself recently, rather than the 3EG songs.

where is the option where Hannah is fired and prince gets a real drummer again?

the rest are adequate and inconsequencial to prince sound .. they dont stand out but they don't fail completely like hannah .. girl got too far on her looks

I like both bands very much, but we had NPG concerts for so long. Those 3EG concerts are so much more enjoyable at the moment.

3EG. I agree about Hannah being the weak link but she is not as bad as Bobby Z or Kirky J. She is about the same as Cora to me who would be next on that list. John or Michael with this band would be mind blowing!!

Which NPG?

I love Bobby Z. Make no mistake. Loring Park does not show him at his best. She speeds up and slows down a lot. I don't mean in the on-purpose musical way, either.

The sound is crisp and the band holds it together, but there are a few times where BZ comes back in WAAAY too fast after a fill.

There is nothing wrong with Hannah. In the context of 3EG playing the rock music they play she is better suited than Blackwell. Nothing is worse than a fusion guy with his cute little high-pitched popcorn snare drum trying to rock a backbeat. Skills have nothing to do with it. It's all about style and sound.

Alternately, Hannah would not be preferrable in the styles Blackwell fits.

Different things are needed based on the situation. Michael B. is the only other choice from Prince's past for playing in a Prince rock band.

Man, I cannot understand why Cora (C.C. Dunham) continues to get bashed here. She is playing drums on 'DREAMER'!!! She is equally great with Funk and Rock, and when she pounds those skins, she's right in the pocket.

.

Anyhow, I cannot "vote" for either or... this new NPG is actually just 3rdEyeGirl expanded. Knowing this, I would vote for 3rdEyeGirl, primarily because whenever the new "NPG" plays, Prince doesn't.

.

Compare this current NPG to the recent forms of the NPG... 20ten tour (Cora, Josh, Cassandra, Morris), the 3121 tour (Cora, Josh, Renato, Morris) or back further to the "One Night Alone" tour (John Blackwell, Rhonda, Renato, Maceo).

Ya know, for me, everytime Prince swaps up I just think, AGAIN? And it feels to me like he swaps up on the dime every time I turn around, course, I could be wrong. I don't get attached to the band or any sound they may have anymore, I simply want good songs. It's always Prince in the lead. IMO, his decisions make or break a song. (He been breaking a lot of them lately. Since 3121 I haven't heard an album yet that has that re-playbility urge in it for me.)

We are all so full of doody here

True, and he was great with the pre revolution band. I think it was difficult for Bobby to adapt to also using drum samples for the overal 80s sound, making it a bit robotic.

If we were talking about 1991 NPG (minus game boyz), That's a different story.

Amen. But P is always changing musician lineups so i have just decided to not even pay a whole lotta attention. If the shows are good and the music is good then im okay.
