All that knowledge about Prince... for nothing!

When u think of it, many of us here, the AMOUNT of things we know about P, his life, his work, his music, his career... I mean I'm getting a master degree in teaching French those days, and I already have 2 degrees in teaching languages but in all honesty I'll never know half about teaching languages of what I know about Prince... I'm quite sure the same could be said about many other people here, who know more about P than about their job lol

It's time for universities to create courses in princeology, so we all can get degrees in princeology, become professional princeologists and get paid for writing about Prince and teaching about Prince instead of just discussing him here!

Don't y'all think? Should we start lobbying? biggrin

Definitely! I second that! I've just spent whole day in office looking up obscure bootlegs and comparing tracklists! I've reached that stage where an unheard of prince outtake is getting rarer!!

I'm thinking someone should create a fake Prince dept and watch all us Prince-dweebs show up.

Oh the fun a hidden-film crew would have discussing our vast useless trivia of the purple one.

And I love discussing him, at least I used to, but not on camera. eek

There have been serious Prince classes and even diissertations. Outside of Questlove.

However it has to be put into a very academic, historical, and conceptual perspective. Not understanding something like The Beatles or other innovators and pop giants, or understanding sexual psychology, African American history and culture would be a major handicap in a legit teaching perspective.

But if it was an informal class... maybe trivia and reviews would fly!

A good time waster I suppose. I mean, it's not like it would have any practical application for you. What job would it help you get?

Princeology teacher?

U know it's like anthropology and philosophy students... they just become anthropology and philosophy teachers... and do some research along the way. Well, most of them actually don't, they just become something else entirely but those who stay in the field teach the field ^^

I did my BA in Philosophy and that didn't really help me with any jobs.. I think a Prince course at an arts or music university or school would be helpful if you were doing your thesis on contemporary music or the music industry.

Change it one more time..

Speaking from experience, teaching something you love is the quickest way to frustration, disappointment, and anger. At least here on the Org, there's no grading involved. lol

Conceptually, university educations weren't ever meant as specific job training... they are meant to create smarter people to hopefully make the world better and maybe even, those smarter people will invent new jobs.
