1) nobody knows who @nickwestbass is

2) when was it actually announced?

3) did anyone even realize that Dr. Funkenberry still does that spreecast shit?

Drfunkenberry tweet: We talk about the new album with and the WB deal +.....?

And then: Also on the PRINCE spreecast tonight one of the members of will join us!

Interesting... implies something will be revealed, no?

And to answer errant, it appears Nikwestbass appears to be one of the dances in the Breakfast Can Wait music video, and an aspiring muscian.

The spreecast he did with Will from Mojo magazine on interviewing Prince was a great one and has over 30,000 views. It seems to be specials now and not every week. Most of the spreecasts with Bobby Z., Liv, & others have between 40,000 to 60,000 views so someone knows he is doing it. lol

i don't mean to be rude, but just because they will "talk about the new album"

doesn't mean they will actually SAY anything about it, let alone review it.

at least, if you've ever listened to the spreecast before when they had such
'big announcements'.

I wonder why there is not just a link somewhere to Funkenberry on this site. Is the guy who created this site jealous of him or something because he gets more attention and all the good Prince news first?

Because of IstenSzek's post above yours.

Also, Funkenberry hasn't been breaking any news in quite some time now. That's why no one talks about him here any more.

It's all either given to music sites or announced on the various official Prince social media accounts these days.

Highly doubt jealous at all. Other fans appear to be trying to discredit him at every turn.

a lot of people didn't know about the London shows or others shows in Los Angeles and the Arsenio appearance was discussed on his site before the news broke.

I see it here all the time where he tweets stuff and someone will post it here like it came from them instead of crediting.

No one talks about him anymore but mentioned with Questlove and the remasters thread and every week someone one here has to call him dingleberry. Still talked about. Still not liked. Still seems like he doesn't care. Still shouldn't care.

Nik West is VERY enthusiastic about it. Compared it to Purple Rain.

Compared also to Let's Work. Andy Allo vocals, some time on lead? U Will B possibly on album? No 3rdeyegirl songs. No NPG Horns as far as Nik could remember. She kept repeating Classic Prince. Breakdown indicative of entire album. Great lyrics. Okay. lol

Doc kept grilling her and got some stuff out of her but not enough. Hopefully funkenberry hears it soon so he can give us a little bit more of what is going on with it.

As I posted in another thread:

According to Nik: Breakfast Can Wait and The Breakdown are on the new album, and Will You B might be on there. It's very funk orientated, Prince goes crazy on Larry Graham's bass in one track, there's a lot of Andy Allo, and The Breakdown is representitive of the album lyrically. She also said there are a lot of 'club bangers'.

She did compare the album to Purple Rain, but what she described was very unlike Purple Rain. She said is was primarly funk and R&B songs, with seemingly none of the Plectrumelectrum songs or 3EG input. She seemed enthusiastic... but so do most who get to hear Prince albums early. She did say the album was full of Prince 'screams' though, which is always good to hear.

After a quick google, she's a good live performer.

Just to add my two cents... 1) One thing I was really glad to learn is that Nik got to hear the whole album three times through. That helps a lot when you're trying to gauge the quality of a new record. On first listen unbridled excitement can definitely affect your impression, but by the third time you can really start to hear what's there. That she still heard a "classic" Prince album after three passes makes me more confident.
.
I thought her nods to PR and "Kiss" were more about the new songs similarly having a classic feel while remaining very accessible, rather than directly comparing them. Her enthusiasm was very high and obviously very genuine though. There's no doubt she loves this album.
.
She mentioned "Let's Work" a few times and I believe that was her template for the "club bangers" tracks, not the types of songs we typically think of when someone uses that term today.
.
Like others have already shared, she said the only tracks we've heard from the album to date are "Breakfast Can Wait" and "The Breakdown." No 3EG songs, including "Funk 'N Roll," which surprised me. I thought that one might carry over since it sounds so PRINCEly to me. Regardless, I really really like both confirmed songs and think they point toward very good things for the rest.
.
One thing's for sure after hearing Nik gush about what she heard: I'm dying to hear this album now!!!

Mentioning 'club bangers', I do hope Fallinluv2nite will not be on the new album...
And... what?! Larry's back in the game ? That really is some bad news.
That means Prince's still heavy into the JW shit.
And that's really bad news for the Purple Rain remastering, given the lyrical content of that absolute classic. Damn, I'm scared now...

well if Breakfast..' is on there i am already marking the album down! I strongly suspect we will get a 3121/musicology type album i.e. aimed at the masses with sales in mind. P.Rain should b the real shit for us hard core!

lol biggrin And with that being said, your statement seems to answer my Thread: "Is Prince Still a JW"

? Furthermore, with this many years in I guess he plans on staying one.....

I pray that it isn't. It is one of the singular most awful things Prince has ever released. Dreadful. It is in my folder called "never ever play this again for fear of damaging the man's reputation and your ears" alongside Grafitti Bridge (the song) and Arms of Orion. yeuch!!!!!!!

'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.
