Are remasters of old albums ever blockbusters, though?

That's the same question I posted in another thread lol Besides the Beatles,it's hard to find examples of remasters that were massive sellers.Alot of people who bought the albums the first time around, are not necessarily gonna rush out to buy the same album again, just because the sound is "improved".

Purple Rain pops up on the Catalogue charts from time to time and back when PR was selling all of Ps albums made it back on the chart. When their is a buzz people go out and buy and Prince has a loyal following.

I'd like to see him approach associated artist projects the opposite of how he did in the 80s:

Back then it was all about pretendeding they did (most of) it on their own and his involvement was minimal.

Let's see a remaster series that really plays up his involvement, with detailed liner notes and accurate credits, and lets the rest of the world know just how prolific he was.

How bout a collection (box set) of "best of" material from all the various associated artists / side projects that he worked on. This would blow the minds of casual fans!

cool

Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

Well P has complained a lot that the masses think Chaka wrote I Feel For You and Sinead wrote Nothing Compares 2 U. When fDeluxe and The Original 7ven reunited and toured he immediately started to play Time and Family songs live and even released that "ICC/Mutiny" jam via Funkenberry to make a point that their songs were HIS songs. And he also played The Glamorous Life quite often lately, as to claim ownership on Shela E.'s stuff, too. I think he's now more tha willing to take responsibility for his ghostwriting/ghostrecording efforts.

A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

It's a brilliant idea for a greatest hits package.

Would love to hear the Prince versions, or them done as duets.

That said, I think the public has a good handle on Prince's contributions. People somehow already associated everything in Purple Rain as being Prince in that kind of naive way and that everyone he was seen with were proteges and puppets.

So it would be awesome to publicly acknowledge the umbrella of work finally.

Those groups tho, especially the Family/fDeluxe when they got back together there in every way were big on pointing to Prince as the mastermind behind the project. If Prince extended his hand of forgiveness and did some things with them, NO DOUBT that those who did not know, would know Prince's level of creativity.

.

Back in 1985 anyone who knew of Prince knew of his side projects. By the time the Family came out most of us knew Prince was more involved than he put in the credits.

.

Prince should never have to play a song to say he made: Cool, Glamorous Life, Mutiny, the people in these groups have always wanted to stay connected/get re-connected to Prince, in a way that would always spotlight him as the Mastermind behind the group/project.

If they're all finally going to get back together for this once in a lifetime thing, let them do it. Its only what half of his fanbase has been waiting for all these years...
It would be a great experience IMO...and it would probably never happen again...IF it actually happens. Can't wait to see if it does. I just want to see Prince & The Revolution perform live one time...in Atlanta, preferably. LOL. #DreamFactory
