People come and say P is a dick but how'd'u feel if every damn day of ur life unknown people'd come to u and told u u're so great?

Personally? I'd feel really great about that. Yeah, being told I'm great all the time would really suck.

It sounds good and all...but after a minute ANYTHING gets old.

Even Wilt Chamberlain would turn down strawberries and cream served on jiggly boobies after 10 servings or so. Head is great...but if someone tryna suck it all day u gonna shout, 'stop woman!' at some point.

And Fred's a joke man...seems he knows how to take the joke, that's ON HIM, better than uninvolved parties can.

Yeah, that's because it's rare and precious 2 u... U have no idea how it feels being worshipped by total strangers... I've had a few glimpses of it, nothing 2 do with P's level but it was enough to FREAK ME OUT sad

What do you know about me? And why can't you write coherent sentences?

.

That's rather offensive for you to suggest that It's "rare and precious' for me to be told "I'm great, doing a great job, you're awesome" or whatever. My point was I rather enjoy it and when someone says nice things like that to me, I tend to appreaciate the compliment. And Fred Armisted is not a "Total stranger" to Prince. They'd met. Again, tell me everything you know about me that suggests that any parise I receive is "rare and precious".

.

The more I think about it, fuck off. Sorry you find yourself "worshipped by stangers all the time" and your life is so hard, which makes you uniquely qualfied to comment on the matter. I hardly think Fred saying "I'm a huge fan and I think you're great" is some sort of serious burden or cross to bare for Prince, you or anyone else but carry on, in the meantime. I hope people stop paying you so many compliments and freaking you out.

.

You should be so lucky.

He was at a party at 1 a.m. A party for SNL. A a show Fred Armisen starred on. If he didn't want to be bothered by the cast of the show he was partting with, he should have stayed home.

The after-party was at a restaraunt. The polite thing to do was to wait until said person was finished eating before going over. That's basic politeness that you shouldn't have to stay at home to get.

A bit touchy today, ain't we? What suggested that it's rare and precious for u was precisely your reaction in the first place, and your overreaction here seems to suggest it even more, I'm sorry. Now so what? Most people are never been told they're great, beautiful and precious by anyone. It's not like it's just you and it's not like u're not great just because people don't tell u that u're great so take a deep breath, have a cup of coffee and smile smile

And yeah total strangers have indeed stopped paying me so many compliments and freaking me out -just has much as hating my guts because there were those who hated my guts, too- years ago...

It still happen quite regularly that people tell me I'm magic, but those at least are people who know me so it's acceptable.

Sorry if I hurt u, though, I certainly didn't mean to sad

Another thing, dude hug don't take things so personally on an internet forum! You're nothing to me but an orgname and a blurry avatar pic. It's not like I'm talking 2 ya in the flesh and I'm saying something judgemental about YOU, how could I have an opinion about an orgname and a blurry avatar pic? It's not like I know anything about u: IDK ur name, IDK what u look like or what u do for a living or even if u're a man or woman for xsakes! U can't just take anything people tell about u here that personally as long as u've not interacted with these people a bit and u can start to tell u know each other a bit.

So sorry again and let's b friends, OK? I'll tell u u're beautiful smile

.

I don't like to be bothered when I'm eating either.

I wonder if Eminem's fans had a fit when he called them out like he did.. I doubt it.

.

But at least have the decency in you
To leave me alone, when you freaks see me out
In the streets when I'm eating or feeding my daughter
Do not come and speak to me...
I don't know you and no,
I don't owe you a motherfucking thing

.

I can just imagine the shit storm if P had said anything near as bad to us.
Basically, it's his life. He can say whatever he wants and it's up to him to deal with the consequences. Personally, I think it was funny. thumbs up!

i feel sorry for prince. he can't go anywhere without being treated like a zoo animal. people just want to walk right up and touch him, yak at him, etc. he is a 'celebrity' how lucky for him! smile

(although, being a fan msyelf i totally get it, and now that we have the era of the fro, it's even harder to stay away from the guy.)

but here is rule number one (and we really only need the one rule): watch from afar. do not poke, pinch prod or taunt the zoo creatures. they are people too and if they are eating it's likely their blood sugar is low and they might feel cranky. let them eat in peace. do not force yourself into their awareness just to let them know you love them, show them you love them by not intruding.

A couple of years ago I saw Macy Gray in concert and she came out afterwards to sign autographs. There were these 2 guys right in front of me who asked her if they could touch her hair, which I thought was really f*ckin dumb. disbelief Her response was priceless though, "It might bite you." lol Maybe Prince should try that one the next time somebody tries to touch his Afro! lol

Every time I hear one of these stories, I always picture the exact same fictional restaurant. Interesting.

Anyway, P's got that image to maintain. What if he'd said hello to the guy and accidentally spit a noodle across the table? Front-page headlines, baby. lol

But it's basic courtesy: don't talk to me when I'm eating, and DON'T talk to me when I'm reading! cool

It is interesting that Fred was hoping for a compliment, when - in reality - Prince probably never watches much tv, let alone that horrible SNL.

So he probably thought it was a lighting guy or maybe a key grip or something. Plus, as we all know he doesn't really like bumping into dudes at parties.

I had dinner next to Prince one night and did not dare get up and go over to his table. But when he left and was on his way out the door I jumped up and tried to say something to him. All that came out was "thanks". He looked at me and said "peace brother", shook my hand and walked away.

Glad the mods changed the title of this thread though. The first one was misleading. But 3000 views is not bad.

All that you could get out was, "Thanks"? I actually love that, I've always said that, if I were to meet him, "Thank you" is all I would say, too

.

I think the issue is in who's telling the story. Howard Stern loves when people talk shit about Prince because it gives him an excuse to make fun of him for an hour and complain about the concert-in-the-dark. Again. Move the fuck on dude. rolleyes I've read tons of awesome stories from fans that have met him.

At Paisley Park at the last celebration in 2001, Prince was on his way down the hall with a few bodyguards around him and one bodyguard sort of bumped a friend of mine who got knocked a step off. Prince turned around, shrugged, put on a funny face and said "Sorry." as they walked away.

Yeah, I apologize for the rant but when I first read it, it came off as rude and condescending to me. Like "that's because YOU never get praise but I DO and you just don't know what it's like". I get praise and when I do, I like it. Maybe not fawning fan, ass kissing, hero worship praise but then again Fred Armisten is not just some plebe walking up out of nowhere to interrupt Prince's meal either. They're peers who had just worked on a long running TV show together.

.

It reminds me a bit of Madonna blowing off Costner when he tried to compliment her on her show in "Truth or Dare" and she was just too cool for the room (only way worse than this "incident") and just acted like a bitch to Kevin Costner. This is really a non story though.

.

Seriously, I apologize if I came off like an asshole and overreacted. I was in a bit of a mood yesterday and was eating my Mac and Cheese surrounded by fans as I was posting. wink

.

There are worse things in life than being appreciated, thanked and complimented though and my point was I think we should all be so lucky.
