It's good (and much better sound than the trash that has circulated for the following two evenings), although there are better sounding European dates than this. Unfortunately, Prince's vocals, particularly his ad libbing on Adore are lost a bit. However, it must be nigh impossible to recapture on the intimacy of Prince alone and at the keyboard singing in such fine voice as he was on this tour - and entertaining (lack of visual doesn't help if you weren't there).

The excitement of the last part of the concert was recaptured for me, on the disc - the sequence of U're Gonna C Me, The Beutiful Ones, Nothing Compares 2 U, The Ladder and then HCUDCMA is incredible when you consider that he was closing the concert in such a spell-binding way with not one hit (of his own, at least). And then he delivers an unreleased song, only ever played once before live: Empty Room is as spine chilling as when I first heard the opening chords and realised it was going to happen!

(And the bounus for me is hearing my wife (not ruining anything, incidentally) in the soundcheck on the third disk - very unexpected.)

And, I'm sure, contrary to Unique's opinion, the best audience contribution on 'How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore' is that woman at the beginning who shouts out (in the way only an English woman can), "Get Your Pants Off!"

That was funny.

You should hear Paris, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Tokyo, Washington, New York ... 2002

And then there are the aftershows.

And then there was actually BEING THERE, which beats listening to any live CD.

Perhaps Milty has heard them ... perhaps Milty went to the show?

The 'cavernous' sound from London is not as good as the sound from other shows that you have mentioned.

That's the October 3rd soundcheck...i am hoping that will turn up soon on another bootleg, maybe the planned 2CD "ONA...The Winnipeg and London aftershows" by Sab.

Maybe as bonus filler on the London aftershow disc?

What I'm really praying for is a good quality edition of the 5th October show. Man, the version of 'Whole Lotta Love' from that gig was the most ispired of them all!

There's no sign of that at all at the moment. I agree that the version on the 5th was far better than on the 3rd.

The set list from October 3rd was:

The Rainbow Children
Muse 2 The Pharaoh
The Work Pt 1
Extraordinary
Mellow
1+1+1=3
Love Rollercoaster
The Ride
Strollin'
U & Me
Gotta Broken Heart Again
Strange Relationship
Pass The Peas
Bambi
Whole Lotta love
Family Name
Take Me With U
Raspberry Beret
The Everlasting Now

One Nite Alone ...
Adore
I Wanna Be Your Lover
Do Me Baby
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
Condition Of The Heart
Diamonds And Pearls
U're Gonna C Me
The Beautiful Ones
Nothing Compares 2 U
The Ladder
How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?
Empty Room

All The Critics Love U In New York

The Sabotage bootleg changes the running order slightly to accommodate on discs in the following way:

1. 'Strange Relationship' stops, but instead of Maceo leading into 'Pass the Peas', they have cut into the start of 'Bambi'

2. 'Whole Lotta Love' which correctly segued into 'Family Name' fades out at the segue for the end of Disk 1.

3. Disk 2 Then starts with 'Pass The Peas' (which originally) followed on from 'Strange Relationship'

4. Where 'Pass The Peas' ended on Prince salling 'on the 1' he originally launched into 'Bambi'. Instead, Sabotage have started from the segue out of 'Whole Lotta Love' into 'Family Name' (where Disk 1 ended).

The third disk of the Sabotage release comprises the (edited) soundchecks from October 4th and 5th:

October 4th:

The Ballad of Dorothy Parker
Girls and Boys (NPGMC member backed by Prince and the NPG)
Manic Monday (NPGMC member backed by Prince and the NPG)
Soul Sanctuary
Shake! (NPGMC member backed by Prince and the NPG)
How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore? (NPGMC member backed by Prince and the NPG)
The Ladder
Thenk U For Talking To Me Africa

October 5th:

Tamborine (Prince drums)
Muse 2 The Pharaoh
DMSR / Music Lover / Alphabet St.
Strollin' / U & Me
The Work Pt 1 (Instrumental)
.

True...the October 5th version of Whole Lotta Love was way better then the 3rd. In fact...i think October 5th was a better overall concert then the 3rd.

But...if you want a really excellent version of Whole Lotta Love, then you need to check out Milan, October 31st 2002.

Now **that** was da bomb!

What is edited from the soundchecks though?

No musical input has been edited as far as I can recall - just some audience banter at the front end of the final soundcheck comes to mind where he mentions that they are waiting for John Blackwell to be filmed performing Muse - so it's suggested that he plays whilst we wait. That's all I meant by 'edited' in this context (sorry if I confused).

No. I copied setlists as they emerged from reports from prince.org (didn't compile on each night personally - I like to stand / sit / listen / enjoy rather than write - so I'm grateful to those that do piece together the setlists).

(When I first saw and heard the disc running order I sensed something was awry, but it was when 'Whole Lotta Love' faded that I realised there was probably a switch for disc space reasons. Then, when I checked back against the running order that I had snaffled last October, and then against the matrix published in the latest edition of Uptown (#56), I listened back to the end of 'Whole Lotta Love' and the beginning of 'Family Name' - and it then becomes clear what happened, matching up to the reported setlists.)

Manchester has not surfaced as yet, either dates. They were taped to MD, but it's quite possible the quality is poor and not worthy of bootleg release.

Hopefully something will surface in due course.
