It's fine until the shoutouts to Maxwell and Christina Milian. The reference is barely relevant now, let alone 5 years from now. Luckily he didn't shout out to Limahl and Baltimora on "Raspberry Beret".

It reminds me of "Y Should I do that if i can do this" where he has to shout out to random celebs that nobody cares about. Meh.

These lyrics right here are my childhood...

When God, His son, and the love of family
Ruled in the community

I remember getting into a bit of trouble when I was a kid, 4-5 blocks away from home. The phone was ringing as I was walking through the front door. It was my Mom & Dad on a 3way call. They already knew. eek falloff heart

Yay! Funky.

Yay.

A big yay. One of his best from the 00s, although it's a bit too long perhaps.

funkomatic

Another good example for Prince's incapability of updating his sound.

Yay.

Great track. I think MPLSound gets a bad wrap around here... Dance 4 Me, Ol Skool and No More Candy are three of his best up-tempos of the 00s and piss on anything from 3121 or Musicology.

And Here and Better With Time are both gorgeous too.

It's okay. But he saved the best for last. No More Candy 4 U is my fave on that album.

Big ol' YAY for me.

It is hard to avoid comparing with his earlier work, so I'm not going to try (avoiding smile. It makes me think of Exodus, and Exodus has quite some playful stuff on it: Exodus Has Begun, Return Of the Bump Squad, Big Fun. It fits in this list.

I like the track. Really funky. I could always do without the constipated, out-of-tune distorted guitar that, to me, sounds like his EMG-equipped strat straight into a distortion pedal and then right into a DI box or maybe even just into the recorder. That sound drives me nuts.

Otherwise, it's really funky, especially the funky clean guitar bits.

Gigantic YAY. These are the funk jams i like from Prince. This pretty much ushered in a 1987 era MPL track into the new era. Something not done often enough.
F.U.N.K was a throwback to that era, Ol Skool was a modern re-design.

It's alright. One if the better jams on MPLSound, I spun it the other day, hasn't faired well in the last 5 years. It's a petty the god awful (There'all Never Be) Another Like Me (which is his worst shit ever) is on the CD, let alone the opener.
