Bring on the good times

Aaaah. I don't believe I'm wrong when I say to be a Prince fan is a path with plenty of ups and downs. Some on the org believe that it's been a downward spiral since Lovesexy, some think it's always happy clappily brilliant - for me ups and downs, lefts and rights, peaks, troughs, bland, exciting, repetition, fresh, funny, sad, but I'm still on the purple train.

.

Anyway I'm celebrating a very high Prince peak at the moment (for me anyway). I live just outside London and got caught up in all all the hullabaloo with Prince's mini guerilla-gig tour. I only managed to get to one - Shepherd's bush Empire - but that was enough. Wicked gig from his purpleness. Highlights? The excitement of rushing up to queue, finding out if we were going to get in or not (and I HATE queuing!), meeting nice Prince fans who made the wait infinitely more sufferable (Hi Marcia & Peter), watching an excellent 2hr 40min gig in an intimate venue with a fantastic crowd, seeing him rip into a spectacular "I like it there", THAT bass solo to the "Forever in my Life" beat and an impossibly funky Housequake Mo' quake jam. Then there's the high praise lauded by the sometimes sniffy UK press. The postings of 3rd Eye Girl vids on the Youtube channel (especially the Manchester jams ("Lets's go Crazy reloaded and "Something in the Water") and Shepherds's Bush "Chaos & disorder". The Arsenio Hall which was nice to see the man speak for a reasonable amount of time in a somewhat wierd but enjoyable show. The the buzz around "Plectrum Electrum" and the somewhat unxepected but mostly universal praise from the Org of "Funk'n'Roll" & "Don't you wanna fall in love 2nite".

.

I haven't been this excited about Prince since his 21 nights at the O2 and THAT aftershow 28th August 2007 in an incarnation that a lot on the org have been waiting for (I know I have)- straight out rock+funk with guitars, bass and drums. For me, there's not many things better in music than seeing him crank into another solo - you don't know where he's going with it, but you know you're gonna bob your head, punch the air, watch him pose and then shake your head cracking the biggest of smiles from your smile cabinet.

.

Yeah, I'm enjoying this 'peak', let the good times roll....

Good read. Thanks. thumbs up!

I am "a little excited" too, not as much as you are,

But the song, "Don't U Wanna Fall..." -- this proves to me there's still hope for Prince.

It's so true there has been a lot of ups and downs since he left Warner Bros.

He is not that easy to follow. Sometimes I wonder what I am doing here. lol

But let's put on the positive glasses, and let's hope for the good times to come.

I hope so!! I've kept away from listening to the studio versions of "Funk'n'roll" and "Don't u wanna Fall..." as I like to be surprised by the new album. I thought "2010" was such a letdown - near the bottom of his canon for me - and such a long time ago too, especially for Prince.

Yeah, it's fun right now reading all the rave reviews on the shows and also New Girl last month. I hope the hype is enough to put some "umph" into the release of the new single. I'm excited to see what's next =)

Everybody stop on the 1...GOOD GOD! Uhh!
