St vincent

If you want to listen to an album sounding like Parade era prince have a listen to the new album by St vincent. The single "Digital witness" reminds me of girls and boys and the whole album is quite experimental.I've only recently heard about her and she's worked with David byrne previously. It would be a match made in heaven if she worked with prince, have a look on u tube.

Annie Clark is brilliant, experimental, collaborative, and fresh.
Annie worked with Wendy and Lisa in 2011 on a TedActive song and video, here is a link

I thought some of it, Digital Witness especially, sounded like Wendy & Lisa. Some of the other tracks sounded to me influenced by post-Dream Factory 80s Prince in some ways, one track had a 'Turn It Up' vibe to it too. Not bad, I wasn't in love with it but decent smile

I absolutely adore this album, and I'm more excited about seeing her in concert than I've been in a while - mostly because the last time I saw her remains one of the best shows I've ever seen - including all the Prince shows I've been to. Not taking anything away from Prince, because his shows are amazing, but just trying to indicate how profoundly amazing I think she is.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

can't hear Parade at all, but have loved Annie for a number of years & I think this is her best so far.

I hear Bowie Low/Heroes period more than anything else especially in her wonderful guitar playing.

Haven't heard this album yet, nor much of her other work, but I love the collaboration with David Byrne, Love this giant as a big Talking Heads fan.

Went over to Madrid to see them with my mate and a fantastic gig it was. She was excellent!

Riiight....Been wondering who this was. Heard Digi Witness on 6 Music a few times and thought, wow this really sounds like a 85-88era Paisley Park production and need to look it up.

It reminds me of Road To Nowhere by Talking Heads.

This is album is sick. It definately has a purple imprint amongst other colors. Love the sick Bass line in "Huey Newton". Couldn't get this album fast enough, best of the year so far.

My copy arrived today. Very nice artwork. Only ever heard of her as of last year when she collaborated with Byrne. Really been enjoying the new single though. Massive airplay on Radio6 helps.
So with Liv Warfield's new album, this and 3EG's on the way it's becoming a good start to the year.

Prince is digging it! He attended her concert wednesday night in New York!

I heard a rumor about him being there. Annie confirmed he was today in an interview. She said she didn't know he was coming. She said looked up was like " I think that's Prince!" lol
