Dorothy Parker vs. Stevie's That Girl

I heard "That Girl" today and I must say this is one of my favorite Stevie songs, he bangs the heck out of those drums and what funky hi-hats! I got to thinking the drum track and keyboard chords really sound a lot like Dorothy Parker. Both very funky, to me sound like Sly Stone style songs.

Anybody else hear the similarities in the grooves of these songs? I think the intros are where you can really hear it.
