I saw 3rd Eye Girl in April 2013 in Las Vegas and again last night in London.

My take - I was impressed with Vegas. The band was tight.

However, last night, was just mindblowing. I think the difference is, last year, they knew the songs and could perform them to a high degree. THIS year, they know the material so well that they can jam out, they can be more flexible with it, they can throw in additional fills and riffs in the right places, they can almost subconsciously take the direction from Prince without having to think too much about it, they can really show off their musicianship better. Prince has taught them a LOT.

I'm glad he was able to find someone he could work with and mentor to some degree...people who cod keep up with obscenely long jam sessions and not get burnt out in a month. If they stay as dedicated, they will Learn even more and who knows where they could take it. Seems to have been fairly symbiotic...this 3rdeyegirl thing.

This was from a concert review on drownedinsound.com:

At times, the ladies almost (almost!) manage to play Prince off the stage, such is their virtuosity. This new creative relationship seems to be paying dividends for everyone, as every second of tonight’s set erupts and implodes perfectly...

They're on quite the musical journey, I applaud them. I hope I get to see them one day. Keep on growing and exploring.
