The similarities are impossible to ignore. Prince likes getting credit but is none too keen on giving it.

Doubt Prince would have really listened to this song more than once if that. Now he likely listened to Mariam Makeba's "Quit It" a few times before recording "Colonized Mind."

It was a hit in 1983. Prince would have definitely heard it. The melody and drum stops are too similar to be coincidence.
And yes, regarding Colonized Mind. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that Quit It is the template.

Just like the refrain of Eric Burdon's "Spill the Wine" was the "inspiration" for "My Medallion".

It ain't the first time Prince has 'borrowed' from other artists. Be it Santigold's Creator for Laydown, Laid Back's White Horse for Erotic City, Egyptian Lover track (the name escapes me at moment) for Jerk Out, Phil Collin's Sussudio for 1999...

I hear no similarities at all to Send Me An Angel

Oh and you got your wires crossed...Phil Collins Sussudio stole the sound from 1999...it came out years after 1999

From Wikipedia: The synthesizer riff was heavily criticized for sounding too much like Prince's 1982 song "1999," a similarity which Collins does not deny, saying that he is a big fan of Prince's work.[13]

Nope, don't hear any similarities here, the only thing seems to be the banner with 'LIFE' written on it!!!

Btw, Phil Collins copied 1999 for Sussudio not the other way around and he even admitted it in interview.....

If you want a real example listen to the Pointer Sister's Automatic and then Lavaux from 20TEN or 'Girl 6' and 'Phonesex' by GOMAB - there was even a court case over that (don't know what the judgement was though).

I wrote about it here:

Just listened to fixurlifeup. The beginning and the way he sings the verse is pretty much

a ripoff but the chorus sounds nothing like it.It's too much of a coincidence wether he

did it on purpose or subliminally.

I seriously doubt Prince has listened to music like this in decades.

I don't hear any other similarity than the way the melody ascends during the second phrase of the repeated motif during the verses. Anyone that has written songs himself knows that the way tensions are built and resolved in melodies are bound to produce similarities with other songs. They're hardly constructed randomly from all the notes that are available.
