It is kind of surprising thinking about Quik's lyrical content. I consider Quik to be the best overall in the westcoast for the last 2 decades. He embodies everything you want in a project. His emceeing on record is all about rocking the crowd, his production/arrangement/musicianship skills has exceeded anything that anyone thought was possible in Hip Hop. Not to mention his skills as a dj on the cuts show why he is one of the best in west coast genre. I think even Dr Dre is scared of sharing his name on a record too many times. We didn't even get into his mixing abilities. Even his early shit was next level, he understood the concept of "competitive artistry" And it is no surprise that Quik was part of the elusive Detox sessions.

Militant...what do your sources tell you about the collab or 36th Bday Quik reference? Sounds interesting. Quik has a great ear and of course, P is a master. Quik's musical chops make this more tantalizing than any of P's other rap flirtations.

Prince mentioned that he was inspired to write "Sexy MF" by hearing "Bitch Better Have My Money" in an interview Prince did with Spike Lee back in 1997. DJ Quik is a great musician and his albums "Rhythm-a-lism", "Balance And Options" and "Safe And Sound" are G-Funk classics and his production credits for 2pac, Snoop, Rapheal Saadiq, Dr. Dre are stuff of legend. A better producer than Dr. Dre ten times over.

Quik was one of the producers for that song. His influence is still there, so you weren't wrong for thinking that.
