There's also Gold. Gold was sacred to the Egyptians for its immutable qualities and its relation to the Sun and eternal life. The ultimate spiritual goal of the Alchemist ws to produce gold from lead, or produce a moral and humanitarian man from a base and selfish one. This is also the goal of Freemasonry, which takes much of its symbolism from Medieval Alchemist and Gnostic practices. They term it as turning the rough ashlar (or stone) to the perfect ashlar, but it's the same principle.

The Illuminatti take themselves and their beliefs to be very real. To me that makes it real enough. The last 2 Superbowl halftime shows were loaded with Illuminatti symbolism.

I wouldn't say Prince is into their beliefs or a so-called follower but he obviously has studied them and know quite a bit.

I saw one utube video right after the BB Music Awards claiming Prince was Illuminatti. Mark Dice was doing the video. Not sure if this is the video referred to in the OP or another one. Dice was reaching in his video and only really had Prince's eye ring to go off of. I may have somewhat agreed but Prince's theme at the moment is this 3rdEye pineal gland stuff. Kind of a contradiction if you ask me.

Prince is a human being--and thus is able to have multiple interests, including bizarre or foolish ones. If anyone else can be interested in a subject, he can be--and he has explored at least some esoteric or fringe beliefs in songs and interviews. Good lord, he was telling people to read that Betty Eadie "Embraced by the Light" book back during the Exodus years, has talked about chemtrails and other conspiracy theories, has sung about microchips in our necks and underground cities for the elites. If someone wants to look for references to Illuminati themes (and finds them), I don't see any reason to be surprised or shocked or disapproving. Now, as to whether he's a member--of course not. The Illuminati don't exist. Everybody knows that.

But that doesn't mean he doesn't believe they do--or that he doesn't want to pretend they do--and if that's in the work (or in the persona he portrays in interviews and other public appearances, which is part of his work, just as it is for any other performer), then it's valid discussion fodder. Esoteric beliefs and conspiracy theory are part of what he is doing as an artist. If you're not interested in that part, fine. We all choose the parts to pay attention to. But it's clearly there. We don't know exactly what he's read or been exposed to, but he has some familiarity with some stuff, and he uses it. It's likely people might over-reach or miss the mark on exactly what he's doing, but that doesn't kill the fun--and none of us are making our careers analyzing him, so we're not going to have to defend this in an academic setting, so
