Prince on "Ellen" Bambi (2004?) Rehersal footage??

NOT ASKING OR OFFERING, just want info....

When Prince performed "Bambi" on Ellen, 2004 I think??? Prince and the band did a pre-show run thru of the songs-sound check. Is this video circulating? Cuz I know it exists in at least one fans hands. Source was an "Ellen" studio employee. Just wanted to know if this got circulated to the fans, or if the only copy is sitting in a box nearby?

I don't know about any existing footage, but Prince did perform Bambi on Ellen in front of the audience. I think it was the last song of the set and unaired.

Although I was there and had an excellent seat, you can only see my arm in a couple shots of the broadcast. I had a weird jacket on, which is how I can tell it was my arm. They showed the guy next to me who was crying though.

He scared me a little.

About 20 of us from the Music Club were invited. I met J7 there, who was very cool (and still is).

A good friend of mine was there, and a friend of his that supposedly worked there gave him the DVD a few days later. I honestly don't know IF I EVEN have it, or gave it back. I'll look around for it. I don't remeber what songs were played or what the contents were as I was distracted with work and played it in the background.

Anyways, I thought, for information sake, people would want to know what songs were soundchecked that day. Just wanted to see if this was widely spread thru the interwebs and common knowledge before I begin a long search.

I respect the rules of Prince.org and the rights of Prince, and have no intention of offering or distributing this material in the UNLIKELY event that it is even found. Just looking for info.

Playing Bambi on that show could be considered rude. Going on a show hosted by a lesbian and playing a song trying to convince a lesbian that her amorous pursuits are inferior to those of Herero-boning is no different than opening for a Prince concert and singing a song about JWs missing out on "true" Christianity.

Supposedly, Ellen requested it.

Perhaps, ...she has a sense of humor? And so does Prince?

In a variation of the past Controversy-driven stunts and antics, I can easily see this being plotted out (by Prince alone, or even with Ellen knowing) to drive up Twitter or Facebook traffic for Ellen's show.

.

Seems like Prince is really dusting off Bambi "lately". He must know it's one of his hardest-rocking songs.

This debate - "Oh, how rude & mean!" "No, it's not homophobic" - already played out in many threads at the time of the show (around 2004). And in those threads, people who were there at the show said that Prince left the stage after the 3 aired songs, but then Ellen went to the mic looking like, "what, that's all?" and so he came back and did "Bambi." And she was dancing and having a great time to "Bambi." And she must know the lyrics because she said she was a fan from the first album back in '78. So the impression from those who were there, and saw the whole situation, was that it was requested, and thoroughly enjoyed, by Ellen.

Is it circulating yet?

(I need no pointers, just confirmation that torrents etc exist)

It has not been located yet. I will post a detailed review here if/when I come across it.
