Snow Man ~ Prince & Nona Gaye 11.5.1993

Christmas in Belgium was different
Than the ones spent in L.A.
The Christmas I got no presents
Still me and my brother played
Near the ocean makin' the snow man
On his face we were makin' a smile
'cause just like a daddy
The snow man had style

CHORUS:
Snow man, snow man
Another Christmas gone
I got a chess game this time
A bishop takes the pawn
Sometimes I wanna go back where
The ocean swallows the shore
I could still see him smiling
When my snow man is no more, no more

Winter seldom passing
Where the memory doesn't sway
2 the smell of a Christmas dinner
Shared the family way (Shared in the family way)
Everything seems so perfect
That nothing would dare go wrong
But tears come with the summer
So long, so long (So long)

CHORUS

Snow man

I look at my hands and I wonder
Will they ever make anyone smile
The way the snow man made me

CHORUS

(Snow man)

Snow Man is an unreleased song recorded with Nona Gaye on 5 November, 1993, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. The song's lyrics focus on Nona Gaye's memories of her childhood in Belgium with her father, Marvin Gaye. It is unknown if this song was intended for any specific project.

I´m a huge Marvin Gaye fan and like this song very much. Prince really made an effort here as far as songwriting goes and if you´ve read the Marvin Gaye bio "Divided Soul" by Dave Ritz you´ll probably like this song even more.

Great song. I also like the other songs he wrote for Nona a lot and it´s sad that her career as a singer never really took off.

What has she been up to lately? I googled her a few times but to no avail...most of the info I found was pretty old, and the last time I heard about her here on the org I couldn´t believe the stuff people were saying about here....really sad and tragic. I hope she´s doing well now.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I love this song. Really great pop song that feels a bit deeper than most.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected.

Need more sleep than coke or methamphetamine.

Beautiful song.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
