I know that there is a popularist view at the Org that Prince has sold out by conforming to organised religion, but I wonder whether the followers inside those circles actually consider Prince to be a conformist or non-conformist to the ways one should behave.

I wonder, have any Elders in his Kingdom Hall listened to the lyrics of Prince's latest song, Da Bourgeoise? Whichever way you analyse its potential message(s), Prince's behaviour does not appear to conform to the JW faith, ultimately.

Could the bourgeoise be a metaphor for the Elders criticising Prince for not following their path ("Last time I checked you said you left the dirty world"; "I see you undercover like the CIA"; "Nothing like you lasts for an eternity")?

Is Prince the "bearded lady", according to the JWs?

Do you think they would be accepting of his lifestyle if he wasn't rich and famous.

hmm...u may or may not be on to something here with this theory. Thinking outside of the box in a very thought provoking way. I think the song could be taken as political or spiritual or political/spiritual....just not literal.

Prince is extremely spiritual. He's in touch with the Spirit world. It doesnt take a rocket science to get that fact. He's been that way from the beginning.

I think Prince is being a non-conformist by choosing to be part of one of the least-mainstream versions of churchianity thereby satisfying his need to be the underdog who knows something the rest of us don't. Or so he thinks.

At this point, I don't know what Prince is.

Every church regardless of demoniation have people that gossip and talk behind members back. I think Prince wholeheartedly believes in the tenets of Jehovah Witnesses. Being a member of that faith is not for the lazy. Countless hours of domestic ministry and Bible study to me is commendable. I have philosphical diffrences with the religion but I can't disparage anyone who cares about their faith, especially if it's done in love and extols about their love of Christ, I can't be mad at.

I think that Prince takes what he needs from his faith. But only Prince can answer the OP's question as we can only assume and speculate and not have the facts.

The only person who knows Prince personally............. is Prince himself.

As far as I know the JW, the hierarchy and structure is set up in a way that there is no room for personal free thought.

I think JW is safe, warm and a great way to get yourself on track when lost. However, when a person gains strength and therefore becomes less dependent on the affirmation of the JW group, there is not much room for that individual to explore their own spiritual path, is there?

And as far as Prince goes, does anybody know who is the one who ties him to the JW's? To me it seems that Prince and 3EG are spiritual orientated. I like it how they can make great inpired music, and I hope they will not let others decide for them, if their music is approved by God or not.

I mean, how can the elderly know they are more right than other JW's?

Religion is about love, compassion and respecting eachother, isn't it?

For me, a bond with God is not validated by a random group of people who claim to be the elite of religion. It doesn't sound very spiritual to declare yourself part of a religeous elite group, that controls others, and dictates them how God wants them to behave, is it? Religion has been abused as a mean to ecxert power over people since the beginnings, so that's not new.

Didn't Prince pay a lot of money by now to the JW's? Are they afraid to loose that continuous income source?

Or is this all just a theory, and is Prince tightly connected with all JW's and is everybody happy?

All in all, I really like how Prince and his girl band have played their music. I really like it a lot better than the NPG. I love the horns, but somehow, the backgroundsingers don't do it for me. Feels very unnaturally forced to me.


oops, I'm just rambling, not focussing at the main subject of your post. Well, in all honesty, nobody can really post a reply that makes sense.

Only Prince knows.

I'm sure there are many JWs who consider him a true JW, and many who don't. Same with most religions, to be honest. I think Prince certainly thinks himself to be a true Witness. That's the main problem thing.
