the purple rain fans still admire and respect that period of prince .. prince legacy on wb still grows over time just like dark side of the moon .. he is a classic who is still respected for his past work

in terms of new music (not tours or appearances) prince is a fucking joke .. lets call him a washed up songwriter instead .. he can still sing! .. he can still put on a great hits show with a few gems .. he can still look cool .. he just cant write a decent song or put out a decent record anymore

Is Prince basically "The Washed Up Singer" he talked about in "Face Down" because generally nobody gives a darn(damn) no more about Prince but the few straggly people he has left on prince.org lol

Remember he would be the topic of conversation at the office and his songs would play every hour on the radio. hee hee

I have to admit back in the day I thought Prince would be as popular as during the Purple Rain era until his 60's and beyond. In other words people would rave about him forever, ha ha

Its clear that some folks confuse their own views of Princes music with his overall legacy and standing within pop culture....These are two different animals...The sooner people understand this the better...

nod...I highly doubt anyone would feel like calling Stevie Wonder a "washed up singer", no matter how little radio airplay he gets or how few CDs he sells. That's because Stevie Wonder has carved his presence and his music's importance into the rock & roll landscape in a way that will never be erased. We respect his enormous talent and his incredible career...even if nothing he's put out over the last 25 years comes close to matching his best work. Most music lovers would consider it an insult to diminish his overall legacy in any manner.

Prince deserves to be seen in the same light.

I really don't know what "washed up" means??

IMO - Prince is one of the best singers out there and his repetiore of music speaks for itself. I don't see why it matters at this stage if he has a hit or not. He's still one of the greatest musicians we've ever seen.

If you don't like his newer work, that's ok. You can still enjoy hundreds of songs from the past that are awesome and like no other.

I would rather listen to 80's & 90's Prince than just about any new artist today.

That's about the size of it. Prince has been writing with a "fuck it that'll do attitude" for some time now. Trite lyrics, bludgeoned into a melody.
Then you listen to the new Something In The Water rehearsal and it's clear he still has all the tools to make GREAT music, so much more than a screwdriver.
