1986_08_17 Rotterdam video question

An 18 minutes pro-shot video of that show is circulating, which features the beginning of the show. It's probably just a leak but I can't help wondering: could it be that this was broadcast on some Dutch TV station in order to promote the Parade Tour in 86?

Thanks for letting me know wink

I'm quite sure that the "Ahoy Rotterdam EP" footage was not broadcast on tv, though I'm not 100%.

It's very rarely mentioned here. It's a joy to watch.

Haven't found the time to watch it yet. Thanks for the insight. So unless anyone had contradictory information I'll consider it unofficial smile

In the dayz there was a short clip on channel Veronica's Countdown show, less than a minute, it featured Love Bizarre, with Wendy's back to Prince's when the go down during the saxophone tune.

Later on, I mean weeks later, Countdown aired the June 7th Cobo Hall show from Detroit, in an edited version, less than an hour, because it fitted in the Countdown 50 minutes show. Like, they cut out a lot and it ended with Kiss for example.

Maybe this footage, from Detroit, is what you remember, because they played small clips the days before, for advertisment.

What do you mean it's not in the computer?

Mmmh that's interesting. Do you remember if that Love Bizarre snippet was aired around the time the concerts in Holland happened or later? And do u also know if it was from the Cobo show or from a Dutch show?

The Cobo Arena show ends with Kiss in all 3 existing versions ^^

I don't remember anything, I ain't even Dutch, I'm just trying to figure out thins for my discography project wink

Thanks for ur help smile

MIGHT it have been from the 10+ min version from the Sheila E. Live Romance 1600 show done in San Francisco March 8, 1986.

here is a screen cap that show: I do not think he wore the lavender at the Detroit show.

Wowowowowow, let's not make things more complicated than they are: are you saying the snippet was from that video or that it COULD have been from it?

Agreed. Feels like you're actually in the audience, one of the truest documents of what it feels like to watch a Prince show.
The leaked footage of Nude in Rotterdam is a joy too, especially as it was filmed from virtually where I stood. smile

according to my information the NOS Journaal (the Dutch public broadcasting company news program) was allowed to film about 20 minutes in the first hour. They broadcasted snippets in the news program that night (the start of the show) - Prince performing life in the Netherlands was then (and still is - the coverage on both public and commercial tv-stations of the last 2 shows was huge) major news, so it made the main news program. The complete recordings (what can/could be seen on YT) were leaked a couple of years ago. They are from the 17th August 1986 show at Ahoy' Rotterdam.

No, this was not showed, I remember this R1600 show I watched on Super Channel (herinnert u zich deze nog? / do you remember?) With that lavender?pant, pink I'd say. This R1600 btw was also aired on Dutch radio channel NCRV's Dikvoormekaar Show In Amerika (hosted by Jan Rietman feat. Andre van Duin)(herinnert u zich deze nog? / do you remember?), only the last 2 songs Glamerous Life and A Love Bizarre.

I clearly remember Wendy with Prince, not Escovedo.

THAT'S A FACT, NOS was running most of the 8 o'clock news on Prince, I remember this. But the NOS, same witk NTR during last summer's NSJ Festival covered/covers most concerts since they have tons of equipment and network. Anyway, the Hilversum based museum Beeld En Geluid (video and audio museum) has zillion tons of archives of all, mainly, NOS material. I was there recently and it's amazing how well archived hours of decade all stuff is kept and available, back to the thirties. You Databank should contact them sometime, I'd suggest.

More questions?

On Sunday nights I used to listen to radio channel Hilversum 3 show Op Slag Van Maandag and that night dj Hubert van Hoof had a live phone call from journalist Flip van der Ende, extatic reporting after the show. HvH asked if Sheila E was there, too, or Vanity or Apolonia, but FvdE claimed not.

Actually, YES biggrin

Obviously the 2 snippets from the 1987 Rotterdam shows that recently leaked are also from TV but WTF is this 1 minute snippet of SOTT from the 31/12 in Paisley Park??? Was that on TV, too??? eek

And what of the 10 minutes of the 1988 Hamburg aftershow? That from TV too??

And Housequake from LA 1988??? eek

Thanks smile
