I'm assuming this video hasn't been released yet.

If so, then what is the logic in releasing a video several weeks after the song is released? Seems to me they'd be released at the same time. Or, maybe the video a week or so before the single drops, to build interest.

But outside of the Prince fans who've already bought this song, who is going to be excited about a video that gets released after the single has pretty much played out?

Is this the way other artists do it?

Considering your sign up date, and your first post, I take it you came here just to promote this but thats not what were interested in on the org. seasideterror said:

I know the talent of the choreographer Nicole Kirkland and if it's anything like her usual choreography it definitely WILL NOT be a bunch of awkward teens dancing like five year olds. Trust me on that! lol I know she has a youtube channel so go check out her stuff. You'll see what I mean.

I replied to a comment you posted about awkward teens dancing like five year olds. I happen to know of stuff the choreographer has done in the past and I was stating that I don't think it will be anything like Screwdriver. I don't really understand why it's not a problem for you to criticize someone's work but it's a problem for me to praise someone's work and you call it "promoting". And I did come here recently exactly BECAUSE of the song and reading about the video and knowing the choreographer's work felt it was worth talking about. What better place to talk about Prince events than on a Prince site?

When did I criticize any ones work? I dont know who or what youre talking about. Are you the choreographer? Because it would make sense for you to be as defensive as you are. Good for you that you know the choreographers work. That was precisely my point. Promotion. Woopee.

You criticized the "awkward teens dancing like five year olds" and whoever choreographed that video. And I am not the choreographer for either video. I wish I had that kind of skill razz and yes good for me that I know the choreographer's work and like to give kudos when they are deserved. I don't agree with you that appreciating an artist's work and talking about it and complimenting them is considered promoting, but we're all entitled to our own opinions.

I think it's safe to say that this video will come way too late...so I fully agree with all you said! And this isn't the first time their marketing strategy fails big time confused

Anybody here who knows the current iTunes chart position of the song?

It's funny how the director has been tweeting multiple times daily how awesome this video will be. Video of the year...yeah right! lol https://twitter.com/DaniCurlyfryz

Thats because shes a teenager. At least that is how she comes across... Very young. She was gushing on twitter that he called her but it looks like it has been deleted. lol Prince is keeping the young crowd around him still. Maybe he thinks it will make him more relevant in the mainstream.

I'm very curious about this video.

Allthough I think that when you want to work with amatures because that is cheap (dancers don't get paid??), then the video might turn up to be amaturistic.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

When has logic ever had anything to do with whatever Prince is involved with. Especially in recent years.

The director of the video gave herself the leading female role and CJ Salvador got the leading male role.

Not likely that Prince or any bandmember will b seen in this video neutral

Since leaving Warners,Prince's marketing and promotion hasn't exactly been very effective lol but at least he's doing something with this song. It's a great tune that deserves a little mainstream attention.

the release schedule is again really horrible....iTunes release, big media attention, then video shoot, no video for weeks...and the most important thing not releasing the song to radio...

same procedure every year wink

the sample clip on the 3rdEyeGirl official youtube page has now got 750,000 views.

it won't get any better than that.

.

if he wanted to sell some more copies of it he should have made the clip longer, at

least include the first verse so people get a feel of the song instead of just the intro

with the chorus.

.

then have it on itunes the next morning. the idea was probably to get more people

to check out the 3EG website. i'm guessing numbers stalled at the site while many

people kept finding the youtube clip and then perhaps looked at itunes? even after

the delay of getting it on there, i'm sure it still sold a decent amount, hence prince

now still milking the song a bit.

.

a video is going to add nothing new at this point. those who were interested have

by now viewed the sample clip (either finding it because their hardcore fans or just

ending up there through media attention for the cover and having a look).

.

what irks me most about these kind of releases, with a video following months later

is that we have to wait that much longer for new music. if this whole BCW thing had

not come up we would have had more new music already, i'm sure.

Unless it's POP HOP or HIP POP, when a song and video is released doesn't matter I think

I'm not excited either way, just would be interesting seeing the video
