Do you think a remastered version of Emancipation would sell?
No, the real reason (imho) Prince doesn't release remasters is that it would mean letting a technician, somebody else, touch his work. He just wants to own everything and put it in a vault.

Your comment made me think of something. Bob Dylan once ran away from his legendary past, but in the past decade or so, Dylan has embraced it to an amazing extent. He wrote a portion of his memoirs, worked with Scorsese on a massive documentary, released the "Bootleg Series", etc.

This is obviously speculation, but where do you think Prince is in these terms? Does he seem to embrace his past or does he avoid it? Does Prince have a sort of "archival appreciation" of his music from the past 35 years?

My impression is that making & playing music is what Prince thinks about. And he just plans to "keep on keeping on." He knows that people like us will always go out of their to see & hear what ever he's doing. And he can live off of that.

Many years from now, once he passes on, music historians can then go through all the music he's made and scrutinize it to their heart's content. Maybe he's not just not interested in repackaging the past like Dylan has done.

I'd just be happy with the appearance of stuff like that Xenophobia and Choc Invasion cd box sets that never happened. I don't think i'd be that interested in remasters of his post WB stuff.

the post WB stuff sounds fine as is. No need to remaster those. The 70s and 80s Cd through Graffiti Bridge need it bad as they sound terrible on cd. Besides, noone bought these cds the first time released. I vote NO on this. 70s and 80s output - YES!!

I agree,the post-Warners stuff doesn't need to be remastered.

If there was going to be a remastering project,I'd say every album from 'For You' To 'Lovesexy' should be remastered.
