Livestreams - my view on this

What I really want - a site were I can see these in streaming format at a time when I feel like it. Not "live" and by surprise email announcement. At a time when I am awake, relaxed, can connect it to my home entertainment system and take it all in in a nice fashion. I am ok if this is then taken down after a month or so...

Or make them available to download, I will happily pay for this if quality is good and price is right.

Now I will have to look around the internet again to see if I can find a version somewhere - what a hassle...

I know Prince can do what he feels like, I am just saying what I (me myself and I) would like...

Damn it... confused

I'm surprised that Prince only makes these available late at night/in the middle of the night. Almost all Livestreams have been after midnight on the East Coast, which is middle of the night/very early in the morning in Europe.

I live in Texas, which is the Central time zone, and even still - most Livestreams are after 11 PM. I'm in bed by then!

I'm not familiar enough with Livestream to know if you can see them on demand, but I bet you can.

Prince has said that the appeal of 3RD EYE TV on Livestream is that it is UNSCHEDULED, SPONTANEOUS and SPORADIC. I would love for Prince to do what the OP just described, but histroy has shown that the minute fans have expectations of him, he digs in his heels and stops doing it.

Oh, I think he should continue to do the Livestreams on the spur of the moment. I just think that if you aren't awake in the middle of the night, you should have the ability to watch the Livestream when your schedule premits.

Think about it - Prince is saying that if you want to watch him, you have to stay up until midnight, or 5 AM, or whatever - EVERY NIGHT. Because you never know what night/morning Prince is going to Livestream it.

I'd stay up and watch the Livestreams live if I had advance notice, but I'm probably not going to stay up until midnight every night, hoping Prince comes on.

I totally agree. It's not worth it. Just put the shit on youtube, like those Dakota snippets.
Now, if it's a short notice concert, I'll stay in line all day and beg, borrow or steal to get a ticket! But those live-streams...nah. I guess Prince doesn't realize there's people in the world who do actually spend the night

Unless it's an actual live performance or rehearsal beinf streamed as it happens, I don't really see the point. There are much better venues for pre-recorded material/playlists.

I must say I felt lucky to catch the live rehearsals for Montreaux while they were happening. It was a great new experience and when he played "Dark" live on stage at PPark, I got chills. While it is unfortnate that more people can't tune in while they are happening, that is part of what makes it even more special in my opinion.

In this day and age when it seems like everyone whips out their cell phone to capture the moment or texts/post something instead of just enjoying it "NOW", the unplanned livestreams are even more special. Catch them...if u can... biggrin

In my opinion, it is one of the best free things Prince has ever done for real fans.

Agree, it sounds the shit... Only, I am sleeping at that time in Europe, and why not allow this to be up a couple of days instead of "live only.." - well, I know, no point in hoping...

I WANT A "PRINCE NAPSTER" OF UNRELEASED/ALTERNATIVE VERSIONS/LIVE MATERIAL, ideally with videos as well biggrin , for $4.99/month... biggrin biggrin biggrin

I must agree with this part. Dark is one of my favorite songs. I also liked the Chicago show stream. I set my account to get a text when it's on. I've caught some really good ones.

I do understand musicians of P's magnitude do not work 9 to 5's. Odd hours come with the territory. It's just one of those things. Nice if you can catch it.

It's kinda frustrating that Prince uses all that new communication styles and still gives use halflit rooms, arms-only, pictures, bad quality video and snippets.

It's fun but halfbaked when comparing for instance with a groups like marillion who goes out of a limb to reach their fans (like the 3 day event in a holiday park).

Nothing seems to be allowed to be recorded properly (live music/interviews). Is he affraid to be held accountable for something?

I can hardly show anything official (in relation with the vast amount of work) to my kids of this artist.

What I really want is the world, the universe and everything to be ran on my terms

...I would particularly like it if Prince would run all future concert scheduling decisions and any streaming thereof past me. Ideally he would move to Glasgow (in fact my neighbour is just about to move house, so there's a place for him) and play regular gigs at King Tut's every Friday evening (except the second Friday of the month as my wife tends to go out that night, so it would be good if he could pop round for a bit of baby sitting those nights to give me a break as well.

If he's going to continue to make unscheduled livestreams available for free that I'm going to continue to miss, then could he at least send Shelby J round to my house to work this google-thing that everyone's talking about.

Finally, could all artists everywhere stop releasing limited edition vinyl on Record Store Day - it's very annoying that I am annually disappointed because my local shop either hasn't ordered something or someone got there before me?

Thanks world! razz

Your sarcasm is less effective than it would be if the majority didn't want basically the same things Krid wants.

...and my sarcasm wouldn't have been exercised if it wasn't to object to what seems to be a misplaced sense of entitlement!

I'm not picking on Krid (or anyone) here as an individual - and I agree that his suggestions have merit - and maybe I'm just coming at this on the back of the prevalence of trolling stories in the UK at the moment - but the main achievement of the internet seems to be the elevation of self to ridiculous levels!

This last livestream was terrible quality footage from Stockholm, and only about two songs. The quality was almost too bad to watch. Also, 'Lets Go Crazy' is actually cut off before it ends.

The piano part was awesome, because we rarely get to see Prince's hands on the keys close-up.

The 'FixUrLifeUp' remix is a brash Rave-style remix...

Yes, you summed it up very well, and it is all very frustrating. But thank you for mentioning Marillion (I love them!). thumbs up!

I love that he's giving us these streams - can u think of a single other act would do so!!?? It's a great development, very typically innovative. To see rehearsals at Paisley and concert/aftershow footage is a gift for sure....But, I'm in Ireland and we never get them before 4.30am... missed the last 2 as a result, even though I knew they were gonna happen and I was at 3rdEyeTV - I just fell asleep, dammit!! :/

This is the exact opposite of what Prince has said he's trying to do with the streams. The audience he hopes to get for these is literally just the 5 loons in body paint writhing to Elephants & Flowers in Graffiti Bridge.
